    Employee Relations Specialist

    Responsibilities:

    • Will advise HR colleagues and line managers on complex, advanced and high-risk disciplinary cases about the appropriateness and fair application of relevant procedures and interventions. 
    • Involvement in cases dealing with misconduct, operational requirements, and incapacity, encompassing inter alia suspension, disciplinary charge formulation, procedural, substantial and administrative requirements. 
    • Identifying ER trends to propose and implement to limit risks to RIM and disciplinary action. 
    • Facilitation of the processes and procedures in Employee Relations cases such as representing RIM in external dispute resolution with Unions and CCMA. 
    • Delivery of specialist ER training to all unit managers, supervisors, and HR colleagues. 

    Minimum requirements: 

    • Postgraduate degree (NQF 8) in Industrial Relations/ Labour Law/ Human Resources/ Social Sciences/ Industrial Psychology 
    • LLB degree will be an added advantage 

    Work Experience: 

    • Minimum 5 years in an Industrial/ Employee Relations specialist role; in a unionised environment. 
    • Proven track record of CCMA representation and external dispute resolution forums. 
    • Knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and various Collective Agreements. 
    • Proven ability to work in a highly confidential environment, perform under pressure, meet deadlines and be capable of accurate and detailed work. 
    • Computer literacy in terms of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and internet is essential.
