Environmental Health Assistant at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• A valid Code EB driver’s licence
• Grade 12 with preferably 1 to 2 years experience in either pest control, health education, water sampling or law enforcement
• PC literate
• Physically fit and able bodied
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
• (HPCSA) as an Environmental Health Assistant or application for exam to enable registration as an Environmental Health Assistant with
• the HPCSA within twelve months of appointment under own arrangements
• No criminal record
• Prepared to work on weekends and at night, if required

Key Performance Areas

• Assist the Environmental Health Practitioner in the performance of duties relating to Water Quality Management, Food Control, Health
• Surveillance of premises, Environmental Pollution Control, Vector
• Control, Chemical Safety and Waste Management)
• Assist in the enforcing of legislation, Council policies and Bylaws relevant to environmental health
• Conduct vector control activities, including surveillance, destruction and investigation of complaints
• Assist in the delivery of environmental health education programmes
• Maintain and record statistics as well as draft correspondence and reports as it relates to activities conducted
