    Finance Operations Manager

    Purpose of the Role:

    The purpose of the Finance Operations Manager role is to lead and manage the payment processor reconciliation and purchase & refund control function within the Finance department.  This role is responsible for providing assistance to the Head of Treasury to ensure that all purchases, refunds and payment processing costs are correctly posted, up to date and adequately monitored. This role is also responsible to serve as a full back up function to the Processing and Control Team Leads that report directly into this position. This role will also be required to work closely with the Treasury Team Lead.

    Duties include, but not limited to:

    Systems and process management:

    • Ensuring that the Financial systems (ERP and Reporting) are operating effectively across all entities in the appropriate area of responsibility.
    • Investigate and recommend solutions to improve operational efficiencies in the team (i.e. better use of data imports etc)
    • Liaise with BI to ensure that the transactional data received is relevant, accurate, complete and received on time.
    • Review reporting to ensure that all the relevant dimensions are posted.
    • Ensure that appropriate processes are in place in order to identify potential problems and escalate when required.
    • Attend weekly BI meetings to ensure that all issues and queries are being addressed and escalated based on priority.
    • Ensure appropriate processes are in place to ensure that the team operates efficiently and meets group deadlines

    Payment Processor oversight:

    • Overall management of the processor reconciliation team.
    • Manage the relationship with the relevant data and BI teams to ensure that all information is received in the manner required and on time.
    • Understand requirements of all new payment processors to ensure that our systems are able to cater for new products.
    • Prepare the overall month end reports and query anomalies with the processor reconciliation team.
    • Prepare the monthly stakeholder reporting pack highlighting significant items.
    • Review fees by processor to ensure fees are charged in accordance with the contracts.
    • Ensure all processor and wallet balances are reconciled to third party statements monthly.
    • Escalate queries timeously to ensure quick resolution.
    • Monitor foreign exchange losses and look to reduce foreign exposure.
    • Extensive management of internal and external audits, ensuring reporting is on time for group review and submission to auditors.

    Team management:

    • Communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
    • Openly communicate with managers and team members to ensure that all key deliverables are met on time and accurately and any queries are resolved timeously.
    • Effectively feed information to required members of the team to ensure all important updates are understood and adhered to.
    • Manage others’ expectations appropriately and proactively communicate any potential problems.
    • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to all direct reports to ensure that each team is working efficiently and cohesively.
    • Daily team management and assistance.
    • Bi-annual KPI setting of objectives with teams.
    • Bi-annual appraisals of team members

    Ad hoc projects:

    • Business continuity – prepare and maintain detailed process notes and review team process notes.
    • Ad hoc projects and duties as and when may be required from time to time.

    Essential Criteria:

    • BCom (Accounting), CIMA or equivalent financial qualification.
    • Minimum of 7 years accounting reporting experience.
    • Experience with large volumes of financial data.
    • Experience with financial and reporting systems.
    • Minimum 5 years managerial experience.

    Desirable Criteria:

    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Experience in Navision.
    • Knowledge of IFRS.
