Fire Safety Officer at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualification and experience required:

• A tertiary qualification or equivalent - National Higher Certificate in Fire Technology.
• Up to three years relevant experience in a professional fire service.
• Code 14 driver’s licence with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
• Registration as a Peace Officer.

Key attributes and competencies: 

• The incumbent will be required to conduct investigations to establish and determine the causes of fire and presenting evidence to support findings on suspected criminal acts at the courts of law.
• Fire safety compliance and enforcement, fire safety inspections and prevention, rescue operations.
• First aid & emergency medical assistance, emergency response and firefighting.
• Hazard identification, investigation & evidence collection, regulatory compliance monitoring.
• Fire Safety legislation & code enforcement, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) compliance, advisory & stakeholder engagement.
