Forestry Foreman: Woodlands and Indigenious Forest Management at Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment

Requirements & Qualifications

• An ABET (NQF 3) or equivalent qualification.  No experience required. Knowledge of propagation methods, record keeping, and Supervisory. Knowledge of operating a computer.

Duties

• Conduct production activities in line with the operational plans. Allocate task to labourers as per production sheet.
• Check seedlings and plants for pests and diseases.
• Ensure harvesting activities. Prepare fire breaks. Oversee the maintenance of the plantation, and woodlots. Weed control.
• Watering and fertilising the plants. Render general support functions. Conduct stocktaking. Provide training and development to staff.

Candidate Profile

• Sound organising and planning skills. Good communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, problem solving and numerical skills.
• Ability to work with difficult people. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work with limited supervision.
