    Geospatial Production Manager - Cape Town

    Overview

    Woolpert Africa offers extensive high accuracy lidar, imagery and remote sensing experience, as well as airborne topographic, hyper spectral, and thermal survey and mapping. We provide mapping services for engineering, infrastructure, mining, mapping, agriculture and environmental sectors in more than 45 African countries.

    Responsibilities

    Overview 

    • This position is responsible for guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to a group of individuals to achieve discipline, team and individual team member goals. 
    • This position is key in establishing and improving levels of team technical competence, quality, and efficiency. 
    • This position works within the team, as a member, carrying out the same roles but with the additional 'leader' responsibilities. 
    • This position monitors the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team and reports results to the Discipline Leader. 
    • This position is also responsible for project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting on production projects within the global Woolpert Group. 

    Project Management

    • Responsible for and manages internal project cost controls. 
    • Identify, address, and resolve project issues. 
    • Analyze project resource needs and work with relevant internal departments to determine resource allocation. 
    • Develop detailed project schedules, and plans. 
    • Conduct project kick-off meetings and set up project data within internals systems. 
    • Conduct project status update meetings to communicate, address, resolve, and anticipate project issues. 
    • Manage digital documentation and filing system to company best practice specifications.

    Technical Leadership

    • Perform technical work and QA/QC in addition to managing the work of others.
    • Develop and reinforce QA/QC standards. 
    • Create and oversee the quality of deliverables prepared by team members. 
    • Train, coach, and mentor staff existing or new technical requirements. 
    • Resolve issues impacting technical project objectives. 
    • Act as key point of internal contact for technical needs. 
    • Identify plan vs. actual performance variances. 

    People Management

    • Responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members daily to function in a goal-oriented manner. 
    • Through supportive leadership, create an inspiring and trusting team environment promoting the growth of team members with an open communication culture. 
    • Responsible for effective planning and scheduling of workload and performance of team members. 
    • Ensure team is right-sized, right-skilled and managed to 110% capacity through accurate and efficient use of Resource Planning. 
    • Interview and hire team members. 
    • Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts, escalating issues as needed. 
    • Has full people managerial responsibilities (goal setting, training plans, performance development reviews, termination, discipline, staffing, etc.) and partners with Human Resources for strategic people management duties. 
    • Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments. 

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications: 

    • Must have a BA/BS degree in related field. 
    • Minimum of ten (5) years of technical related work experience required. 
    • Minimum of five (2) years progressive leadership experience required. 
    • Must possess strong communication skills. 
    • Must possess MS Office suite skills. 
    • Must possess strong organizational skills. 

    Resulting Physical Qualifications: 

    • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. 
    • Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
