Afrocentric is currently looking for a Group Assistant Company Secretary
We are currently looking for a dynamic individual, that would act as the company's chief administrative officer mainly focusing on the statutory compliance of all entities within the Group, which includes interaction with Regulatory Authorities; namely JSE, CIPC, TRP and others relevant to the sector and industry within which the Group operates.
Experience Required:
- 4 to 6 years’ experience as company secretary, preferably in a Listed Company environment.
Qualifications Required:
- Legal or commercial degree, CIS qualification would be an advantage
Professional Membership:
- IODSA or any other corporate governance affiliation
Accountabilities:
- Continuous improvement
- Understand interdependence of different systems and processes in area of specialisation and department
- Provide specialist input into efficiency, compliance and quality objectives for relevant area.
- Identify problems and develop and propose solutions to present to appropriate leader or stakeholders.
Cost containment
- Support the identification, implementation and development of cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers.
- Continuously review cost / benefit and ROI
Drive customer-centricity
- Maintain a high level of inter-departmental understanding in order to deliver on professional excellence.
- Continuously increase understanding of client and stakeholder needs, satisfaction and service delivery.
Knowledge management
- Ensure that adequate knowledge, regarding area of expertise, is shared as required and maintained within the research library.
- Provide advice and / or training as required.
- Maintain and develop specialist knowledge.
- Ensure that the company meets its compliance obligations as defined in the Companies Act, relevant laws, regulatory authorities and government regulations.
- Register and communicate with shareholders, maintain company records, such as lists of directors and shareholders, and annual accounts proposals.
- Draft accurate minutes after board meetings and ensure that the board's policies and decisions are implemented.
Maintain expertise level
- Be a member of and make regular contributions to professional bodies, including publication of articles and research findings
- Ensure CPD (continual professional development) or similar accreditation requirements are met annually to ensure maintained specialist accreditation
Network key relationships
- Build and maintain an established network of internal (peers and executives) and external expert resources and partners
- Represent the brand in professional networks
Specialist support to projects
- Own Specialist knowledge in projects, when required
- Conform to project management disciplines when participating in projects
- Represent department or project on appropriate governance committees
Position Specific Outputs
