    Head of Media and Digital Marketing

    Job Description :

    To drive recruitment and build strong mental and physical availability amongst consumers and shoppers, thereby delivering profitable growth for Diageo and our partners. 

     

    The Head of Media & Digital is responsible for developing and delivering a robust media & digital strategy across South Africa.   

     

    • Create and execute all digital and media plans for SA in service of the brand and business goals set out in the annual Game Plan.
    • Work with the brand marketing teams to define the appropriate goals, budgets and strategies to deliver the overall brand objectives.
    • Work with key agency partners to execute the most efficient and effective plans to deliver these objectives.
    • Manage the agency base to ensure that we have the right agencies and people within the agencies to effectively deliver our business plans.
    • Lead SA thinking over the media and digital landscape, using innovative and creative approaches to drive salience, TOM awareness and cultural relevance ahead of our competitors.
    • Work with internal experts, agency and industry specialists to establish new and different ways of working.
    • Challenge standard practice and bring us to a best in class standard in both the digital and media space, amongst comparable consumer goods business.
    • Support the launch of critical innovation brands.
    • Coordinate Media training.
    • Provide training and support on digital and media for the marketing team.
    • Work with GBT and Global Innovation team on developing key initiatives.
    • Consolidate reporting on key initiatives and performance intervene where required.
    • Search and Spin initiatives across the region.
    • Own and drive a culture of compliance in the Marketing team; ensuring full compliance to DMC, GAR and CARM requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Appropriate tertiary marketing qualification – degree / diploma
    • Suitable Post Graduate Qualification is desirable

    Experience

    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in media / digital planning
    • Experience working in both agency and client companies is desirable
    • Commercial leadership experience is desirable
    • Track record of success in highly demanding organisations
    • Experience in roles where required to make strategic choices, evaluating alternatives, balancing short and long-term issues, and living with the consequences of these choices

    • Uncovers deep, penetrating insights about occasions, purchasing and consumption behaviours, and uses this insight to inspire marketing strategies and plans which ensure we drive purchase through all channels.

    • Leads and inspires and team comprising a broad range of contributors including other functions, agency partners and external experts, individuals and organisations who influence culture.  Combines our skills with theirs to create outstanding content which can drive greater cultural traction for our brands and create value efficiently and effectively.

    DRIVING MARKETING PERFORMANCE:  Expected Level = Advanced / Essential

    • Fully understands the way in which Diageo operates in the context of their market and uses this knowledge and data analytics to manage all levers of value creation to ensure profitable brand growth for Diageo and our partners.

    DELIVERING INTERGRATED EXECUTION: Expected Level = Advanced / Mastery

    • Develops holistic and integrated culturally relevant Marketing programmes that reflect brand purpose in a meaningful way for consumers.  Then executes in a timely manner, and with creative flair, through multi-channel media encompassing traditional, experiential and digital communications.
