    Specialist: Climate Change - ERWM19008

    Responsibilities

    • Design, develop and implement climate change and resilience plans, policies, strategies, programs, and projects.
    • Provide strategic direction and leadership regarding sub-programme’s work
    • Lead City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) in response to climate change and resilience
    • Evaluate and validate climate change resilience programs for carbon offsets and renewable energy credits and related emissions
    • Identify resilience strategies for ecosystem impacts from climate change that are strategic to the organization's operations
    • Implement a climate change strategy containing set targets for each economic sector in the CoE, linked to implementation of programmes.
    • Implement programmes that advance the use of cleaner and more efficient fuels and transport technologies in CoE fleet, all public buildings and street lights
    • Implement measures to limit the production and use of ozone depleting substances in line with national and international requirements.
    • Contribute relevant climate change considerations to the strategic planning process by providing the necessary data on the organisation's own operations as well as global climate data
    • Adapt to and implement changes in policy, laws, regulations, initiatives, and relevant industry practices, making recommendations accordingly
    • Monitor external information and ensure sufficient knowledge of related acts, regulations and regulatory frameworks and implement accordingly
    • Ensure compliance with MFMA and other applicable legislations and regulations in the City
    • Compute cost estimates of different conservation practices, based on the needs of land users, maintenance requirements, or life expectancy
    • Build and maintain relationships with customers and internal and external stakeholders that promote cross functional process delivery solutions
    • Implement proper contract management and ensure that service delivery is rendered

    Job Requirements

    • Degree in Natural Sciences/Environmental Management /NQF Level 7: Higher Education and Training, First Degrees/Advanced Diplomas
    • 3 years’ experience in a similar environment

    Snr Manager (Landfill) - ERWM19075

    Responsibilities

    • Plan, organise, lead and control the development and execution of landfill strategies, plans and practices, ensuring compliance with Organisational policies and Local Government Acts
    • Research, develop, monitor and implement strategies
    • Research and develop alternative service delivery methods that improve effectiveness and efficiency
    • Promote and implement good Governance and Risk Management policies and procedures
    • Ensure that completed work adheres to governance in accordance with legislative, council approved policies and procedures
    • Develop and implement financial processes within the Division to prevent and reduce wasteful and fruitless expenditure
    • Oversee the preparation of monthly, annual budgets and financial reports
    • Ensure Landfill operations are completed in accordance with the approved budgets and plans
    • Promote and ensure a Customer Service orientation and satisfaction
    • Develop, maintain, and ensure effective people management and relations
    • Engage with National and Provincial departments on environmental issues

    Job Requirements

    • BSc Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent
    • Direct Project experience with post closure plans, landfill operations, maintenance plans, and construction quality assurance
    • Project Management experience on large scale landfill construction projects
    • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in a Civil/Solid Waste or projects

    Political Advisor: MMC's - PEXM19025

    Responsibilities

    • Provide functional focused advice to provide organisational advisory and evaluation services to the MMC in service of organisational goals and objectives that guide sustainability and long-term improvement
    • Drive and manage advisory services and improvement initiatives across the organisation to achieve cluster goals, organisational goals and service delivery through clean governance
    • Provide advisory service to the different spheres with the City, improvement initiatives to achieve better service delivery to achieve organisation wide improved service delivery
    • Provide advisory services that all business processes complies with the organisations governance and risk frameworks, legislative framework applicable in area of operation to contribute towards the achievement of the clean audit goal of the CoE
    • Positively influence and enable financial control, corporate governance and compliance to ensure that expenditure is only incurred in terms of the provisions of the MFMA and other relevant prescripts
    • Drive an aligned customer service excellence culture, which enables rewarding relationships and allows other to provide exceptional customer service to ensure the achievement of the highest standards of customer relations management

    Job Requirements

    • Matric and Diploma or Degree will be an added advantage
    • MFMA Certification will be an advantage and background in Public Service
    • Extensive experience and knowledge in political mandates, government-political processes, procedures and legislation
    • Strategic planning and management
    • 4 - 6 years' experience in a similar environment

    Personal Assistant: MMC's - PEXM19013

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the office, diary and logistical arrangements in  the Office of the MMC
    • Manage all incoming and outgoing correspondence including prioritising and referring of correspondence to relevant departments locally, provincially and nationally on behalf of the MMC.
    • Receive and screen all telephone calls within the office of the MMC as and when required.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive filing system for the office of the MMC
    • Coordinate all traveling, accommodation arrangements for the MMC
    • Procurement of goods and services for the office of the MMC and facilitate payments of service providers
    • Arrange and co-ordinate meetings, workshops, campaigns and events
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on matters of service delivery and political mandates
    • To assist the MMC to manage and monitor outputs, workflow and office deadlines
    • Make sound judgement on matters that are highly sensitive in nature and handle responsibly

    Job Requirements

    • Grade 12 with a secretarial qualification or relevant equivalent NQF level 4
    • Exceptional Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet & E-mail)
    • Excellent office management, leadership and analytical skills
    • Ability to demonstrate resilience and to function effectively under pressure
    • Knowledge of and interpretation of legislative framework, service delivery, imperatives and implementation thereofAbility to understand and observe protocol
    • 1-2 Experience and Understanding of a political environment
