Description
WhereIsMyTransport are experts in mapping informal transit networks. Our B2B business is the foremost supplier of digital datasets for fast-growing, emerging market megacities. Our mobility app, Rumbo, is designed specifically for the millions of people who rely entirely on public transport, and in particular flexible, organic, non-timetabled modes of transport.
We’re currently scaling our organisation, collecting and maintaining datasets in more and more cities, as well as accelerating the growth of Rumbo. We are looking for an experienced Head of Product to help us develop our consumer app and data tools as world class products, defining a new reference for public transport information publishing and consumption in our target markets.
This individual will manage a team of product managers and work with our research, design, engineering, operations and local marketing teams to shape product strategy, set success measures, assess performance, adapt and enhance the products, and establish the roadmap for future feature sets.
This is a full-time, permanent role. We are a remote-first business with our global teams primarily based in the UK and South Africa, so will consider applicants who have the right to live and work in countries within similar time zones. Key responsibilities are:
Set the Product Vision for our transit data production and consumer products, linking these to a framework of objectives and key results to guide the broader team
Own the product roadmap for our transit data production products, collaborating with our data and operations teams to drive efficiencies and innovate in our approach to data collection and maintenance
Own the product roadmap for our Rumbo consumer app, i.e. how it develops, improves and delivers consumer value over time
Contribute to company strategy, articulating the synergies between the consumer product and B2B business
Partner with business development and in-country teams on B2B commercial strategy
Partner with data strategy, data operations, research, analytics and in-country teams to assess product performance and shape direction for iterative improvement
Partner with data operations, research, design and engineering teams to ensure delivery against the product roadmaps
Manage the team of product managers, supporting them and helping them grow
Partner with marketing on brand positioning, feature launches and overall growth strategy for our Rumbo consumer product
Requirements
Experience and skills
Very important:
Extensive experience in the development and growth of mobile app product(s) targeted for mass consumer use
Experience in managing and developing a team of product managers
Technical background or experience demonstrating equivalent skills, including the ability to communicate with and drive both technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve the product vision
Ability to direct research and use analytics to guide product decision-making
Experience with setting and managing the overall budget for mobile products and web applications
Business acumen and experience working with sales / marketing / commercial teams to determine the best direction for a product
Up to date knowledge/experience of modern product activation techniques for mobile products, including reputational and award based models, rating systems, gamification and other approaches that have met with success
Valuable but not essential:
Experience with products aimed at lower-income level users and/or users with lower levels of technical literacy
Experience with building SaaS products
Experience with data-driven predictive Machine Learning
Experience with product activation in emerging markets
A background in mobility/transport
