Intermediate Application Developer at DLK Group

Role Description

• The Intermediate Application Developer will support a small project within the Western Cape Government by developing and delivering reports to meet the organization's needs. This includes utilizing Power BI, SQL, and related tools to produce accurate, insightful, and actionable data reports.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Report Development:
• Design, develop, and deploy reports using Power BI and Power BI Report Builder.
• Create visualizations and dashboards to present data insights effectively.
• Data Querying and Management:
• Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures to extract, transform, and load data as required.
• Apply DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and MDX (Multidimensional Expressions) to create advanced data models and calculations.
• Collaboration:
• Work closely with the Systems Development Unit to understand project requirements and deliverables.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to gather and clarify reporting needs.
• Testing and Quality Assurance:
• Test and validate reports to ensure accuracy and alignment with requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with existing or new reports.
• Documentation:
• Maintain detailed documentation of all reports, queries, and procedures developed during the project.
• Provide clear user guides or training where necessary for report usage.

Requirements: Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in report development using Power BI tools.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, DAX, and MDX.

Technical Skills:

• Power BI and Power BI Report Builder.
• SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Data modeling and visualization.
• Advanced knowledge of DAX and MDX for complex calculations and data analysis.
