• The Lead: Software Development and Systems will lead a dynamic team of system developers, reporting analysts, and data engineers in driving the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of innovative data systems and solutions in the mineral processing space. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of various business systems across the organization, ensuring seamless integration and collaboration between departments, including close cooperation with the Data Science & ICT teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of system developers, reporting analysts, and data engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
• Drive the development and implementation of software solutions and data systems that support operational excellence in the mineral processing space.
• Provide oversight and input into various business systems across the organization, ensuring that they meet operational and business requirements.
• Collaborate closely with other department leads, including Data Science and IT, to ensure seamless integration of systems and alignment with broader business objectives.
• Ensure the ongoing improvement and optimization of systems, staying current with the latest technologies and methodologies.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure that systems are user-friendly and that data solutions are fit-for-purpose for use on mineral processing plants.
• Manage technical resources, project timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of system development initiatives.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in software development and systems integration, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Postgraduate qualifications in systems development, data engineering, or project management will be advantageous.

Experience and Skills Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or a similar role, with a strong focus on leading technical teams.
• Experience in the mining or mineral processing industry is advantageous.
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C#, Java) and database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, TimeScale).
• Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-level business systems. This includes providing oversight and deployment/integration support to existing business systems across all departments.
• Strong understanding of systems integration and the ability to oversee the development of reporting solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing technical oversight and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Experience working closely with data science & ICT teams to ensure effective collaboration and integration between systems and analytics platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a track record of implementing solutions that drive business improvements.
• Proficiency in on-premises and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and knowledge of DevOps practices is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
