Loans Manager at Hello Group

Description    

• Hello Group is seeking to appoint a Loans Manager to be responsible for the strategic leadership, performance management, and overall operational oversight of the Loans Department. This role ensures sustainable growth, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and achievement of financial targets.
• The Loans Manager drives departmental strategy, optimises processes, manages budgets, and leads Supervisors to ensure operational excellence and superior customer service standards

Duties and Responsibilities    
Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement the loans department strategy aligned with the company objectives
• Set departmental KPIs, targets, and performance standards
• Drive revenue growth and portfolio expansion
• Identify new business opportunities and product enhancements

Operational Oversight

• Oversee the full loan lifecycle (lead generation to disbursement and collections handover)
• Ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective loan processing operations
• Monitor workflow systems and database integrity
• Implement operational best practices and automation improvements

Financial & Budget Management

• Develop and manage the departmental budget
• Monitor revenue, margins, cost controls, and profitability
• Analyse loan book performance and risk trends
• Ensure optimal conversion rates and portfolio quality

Risk & Compliance Management

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal governance requirements
• Oversee credit risk controls and lending criteria
• Monitor audit findings and implement corrective actions
• Maintain accurate reporting and documentation standards

Leadership & People Management

• Lead and develop Loans Supervisors
• Drive performance management frameworks
• Identify training and development needs
• Build a high-performance, accountable team culture

Reporting & Analytics

• Prepare and present executive-level performance reports
• Analyse loan metrics including:
• Approval ratios
• Conversion rates
• Portfolio growth
• Arrears trends
• Make data-driven recommendations to senior leadership

Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Maintain strategic relationships with key clients and partners
• Address escalated client complaints
• Support business development initiatives
• Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Compliance teams

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Business Management, Commerce or related field (preferred)
• Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in lending/credit environment
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a management role
• Strong financial acumen and reporting skills
• Knowledge of regulatory lending framework
