    Manager Quantitative Analyst

    Job Purpose

    To manage and oversee a team responsible for the development and maintenance of best practice models and assessment strategies in line with regulations to facilitate world class risk management in an Unsecured Lending Business (Personal Loans, Student Loans & Overdrafts). This role is responsible for the full spectrum model development and maintenance of BASEL regulatory capital models as well as the IFRS9 model ecosystem. In addition, the role is responsible for pricing strategies produced through profitability models and optimisation techniques. Be part of a dynamic business constantly pushing the boundaries in terms of analytical prowess and adoption of the latest technologies and capabilities.

     

    Job Responsibilities

    • Contribute to the development of differentiated, superior solutions (solution engineering) that meet stakeholder and business requirements.
    • Enable the realisation of the financial business benefits accruing including minimisation of operational costs.
    • Ensure business needs are met through consistent engagement and assistance to business, provide stakeholders with appropriate insights and enable business growth through delivering analytical results, recommendations, research, analytical methods, appropriate systems, and market insights.
    • Understand internal and/or external client needs and requirements.
    • Ensure transformational targets are met and contribute to a culture of transformation by participating in culture building initiatives, business strategy, and CSI.
    • Stay abreast of developments in field of expertise, ensuring personal and professional growth.
    • Create a client service culture and develop client value propositions through analytical insight and strategy formulation.
    • Encourage team to generate innovative ideas and share knowledge.
    • Manage performance of staff by implementing performance agreements and ensuring a clear vision. Mentor and coach staff on identified performance gaps.
    • Motivate staff to perform and contribute to the success of the business by creating environment of teamwork through engaging with staff (sharing information) and encouraging participation in decision making processes.
    • Maintain a high performing team and ensure an environment for optimal performance is created, by identifying talent pool through career conversations, using the talent grid principles, and developing talent retention programmes.
    • Evaluate team performance in accordance to key indicators and design Development Plans of the team guided by the Quants Analyst Framework.

     

    Minimum Experience Level

    • 5+ years’ relevant Analytical experience in the Financial industry
    • BASEL and IFRS9 experience essential. Technical model development including PD, LGD, EAD, Macro Modelling, SICR triggers and ECL calculations.
    • Pricing and Profitability experience required. Specific exposure to discounted cashflow models, optimisation techniques, sensitivity modelling and scenario modelling to produce pricing and offer value propositions driving portfolio profitability.
    • Previous Team Management exposure would be advantageous
    • Exposure to SQL, Netezza, SAS, Python and other coding languages would be advantageous

     

    Preferred Qualification

    • Post graduate degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting or similar Science/Commerce degrees
    • CFA, FRM, CQF advantageous
