Manager :Waste Water Treatment Works at Govan Mbeki Municipality

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Water Care or equivalent qualification (NQF level 6)
• B Degree in Chemical Engineering / Water Care will be an added advantage
• Valid Code B (08) Driver’s License
• Eight (8) years’ work experience, three (3) of which must be in charge of Water and Sanitation
• Registration with a relevant Professional Body or eligible for registration will be an added advantage
• Ensure Technical competence and accountability
• Computer Literacy
• Ability to apply relevant legislation
• Knowledge, understanding and ability to apply relevant frameworks related to Water and Sanitation and WWTW
• Strategic Thinking
• Service delivery focused / orientated and be available to work abnormal hours
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Green Drop/Blue Drop/No Drop Certification Programme.

The successful applicant / candidate must possess competencies as published in Annexure A of the Local Government: Municipal Staff Regulations promulgated in Government Gazette 45181 of 20 September 2021
Key Performance Areas:

• Ensure a proper management of bulk sanitation which includes WWTW and pumpstations are managed and operated in an efficient and productive manner
• Maintain accurate statistical data to assist in future planning and upgrading of bulk sanitation
• Ensure stock levels are maintained and that theft of equipment is avoided
• Ensure prompt resolutions to problems in particular minimize sewer spillages and improved treatment of sewage
• Ensure that the WWTW operate efficiently and the final effluent complies with standards set by the applicable legislation
• Ensure that machinery and equipment are properly maintained and operated
• Ensure that fixed assets are maintained (regular maintenance is done)
• Ensure effective utilisation of resources and cost efficient operations of the WWTW and pumpstations
• Ensure that the divisional budget is not overspent and is adequately budgeted for
• Maintain quality standards in line with applicable legislation
• Control absenteeism of staff by recommending and/or authorising leave applications
• Ensure that Council's Code of Conduct is implemented and adhered to
• Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety as well as the Department of Water and Sanitation
• Ensure improvement on the performance of Green Drop status
