    Multimedia Editors x 2 (

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

    • To produce and deliver high quality digital content that informs, educates and entertains, and are in-line with the News Division strategy and Public Broadcast Mandate requirements.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Identify multimedia content to support SABC news website.
    • Sourcing video material from other SABC platforms for use digital media sites
    • Attend daily production meetings
    • Design, production, publication and promotion of multimedia packages and multimedia elements for digital media platforms.
    • Design and production of multimedia elements for digital media platforms
    • Designing graphics digital media platforms
    • Identifying and editing videos for digital platforms.
    • Web-streaming of live events
    • Promoting and moderating comments during the live stream.
    • Web publishing of audio and video content
    • Ability to use digital software including Quantel, Adobe Suite, Reuters etc.
    • Ensure adherence to SOPs and style guides
    • Work closely with video editors to ensure the multimedia material edited to ensure it meets Digital News standards.
    • Adhere to the SABC Editorial Policies and regulatory and policy provisions.
    • Adhere to all SABC News quality and production standards.
    • Keep abreast of latest multimedia technology
    • Liaising with internal stakeholders in relation to digital productions
    • Establish and maintain news networks and contacts
    • Form and maintain good relations with newsmakers.
    • Consult and engage on stories daily and in advance of known news events, including briefing and debriefing sessions.
    • Brainstorm and discuss story ideas, angles and sources with executive producer and team members 

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • National Diploma in Communication Journalism or related discipline.
    • Excellent Understanding of the broadcast and online news environments
    • Understanding of regulations and legislation impacting broadcasting.
    • Knowledge and understanding of TV News and/or Current Affairs production processes.  
    • Ability to write and compile multimedia content and produce online reports within set deadlines
    • News Judgment with writing and copy-editing skills
    • Knowledge of the relevant systems and broadcasting operations.
