Requirements

• BSc in Electrical Engineering or BTech in Electrical Engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer or Registered Professional Engineering Technologist or eligible for registration
• Minimum of 5 years relevant System Design postgraduate experience
• Experience in power system modelling techniques
• Detailed knowledge of the OHS Act and Regulations
• Financial analysis and competency in using SAP
• High degree of computer literacy
• A valid Code B driver’s licence
• The nature of the job requires the incumbent to be physically fit and cannot be colour blind

Key Performance Areas

• Manage approved projects and associated contracts for extensions to and replacement of equipment on the high voltage system as well as complex projects for other branches
• Drive projects through the necessary governance processes (e.g. Stage gates)
• Draft tender specifications for major and technically complex items of equipment for approval by a Bid Specification Committee
• Control expenditure against budget for project and reconcile actual expenditure against estimated expenditure
• Facilitate meetings with management, internal operating branches and external clients and fellow professionals to give or receive information on projects, programmes, policies and systems
• Conduct research and investigations to obtain information for the design of complex extensions to, and refurbishment and replacement of high voltage network infrastructure
• Compile short- and medium-term network development plans for extensions to and refurbishment of the high voltage distribution system within the Metropolitan Area in accordance with the requirements of the RSA Distribution Code
