Operations supervisor at Bureau Veritas

Bureau Veritas Inspectorate Laboratories (Pty) Ltd is recruiting an Operations supervisor. The position is based in Durban and reporting to the Durban branch Operations manager.

Minimum Requirements and Skills

• Matric with mathematics passed
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in minerals /& coal sampling and sample preparation
• Driver’s license and actively driving
• Medically and physically able to work in an industrial environment
• Able to work independently
• Able to work well in a team
• Good decision-making skills
• Good leadership skills
• Good communication skills – verbally and written.
• Computer literate and proficient in MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
•  Flexibility to travel nationally from time to time when needed.

Job Specification

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and arrange work teams and resources needed as per nominations.
• First line liaising with clients during work execution.
• Check all job instructions and updates before the start of shift and ensure implementation thereof.
• Ensuring staff are at correct working stations, understand their functions /duties and are following work instructions (WI) and standard operating procedures (SOP).
• Ensure equipment is functioning correctly and within valid calibration.
• Supervise staff in terms of correct technical execution of work, time keeping, ill-discipline etc. and report deviations to branch Operations manager.
• Use the Company Vehicle in a responsible manner, obeying speed limits and rules and report any problems with vehicle at the same time.
• Ensure that the operations are running smoothly without contamination, irregularities and delays - and notifying the branch manager immediately when any occur.
• To make sure that all the samples are marked clearly and correctly.
• Reporting on operations.
• Optimizing turnaround time for samples whilst ensuring the highest quality of results is achieved and maintained.
• Ensure inventory of consumables needed for operations.
• Follow all reasonable instructions given by Management of Bureau Veritas.
