    Porte Corchere Team Leader

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Always well groomed and immaculately presented in a clean uniform, polished shoes and name badge as creating the first impression of the One&Only Resort.
    • Helping to create a friendly and welcoming environment
    • Dealing with guest arrivals and departures as per One&Only standard.
    • Offering car door assistance and assisting Transport Desk in calling taxis
    • Greeting guests on arrival and assisting guests with their luggage should a porter not be available.
    • Responsible for keeping Port Coche area tidy
    • Assist guests in giving them directions and providing important information about the One&Only Resort
    • Answer all incoming and in-house telephone calls efficiently and courteously as per One&Only standard.
    • Respond to all guests needs quickly, efficiently and courteously.
    • To be aware of all functions, conferences and special events taking place in the Resort.
    • Assist Security in keeping an eye out for suspicious activity
    • Assist the Porters in retrieving cars for guests
    • Answer basic questions regarding Resort facilities and the neighborhood.
    • Supervise the Porters and provide feedback to the Head Concierge.
    • Provide one-on-one training relating to porter day to day duties.
    • Attend and participate in team events.
    • Participate in required training related to the job.
    • Effectively communicate and maintain a favorable working relationship with colleges at all levels.
    • Assure a professional attitude towards guests and colleges at all times. 
    • To provide an effective structure for communication within the department at all levels. 
    • Lead by example, inspire and motivate those around through enthusiasm and inspire and guide others to make their decisions based on the organizations values and overall direction, keeping the Company’s goals in mind.  
    • Ensure that all new employees, trainees or those on a departmental familiarization program are properly introduced to the working of the department and receive comprehensive and accurate training.
    • Report equipment repair and maintenance to Department Head.
    • Be conscious and responsible regarding energy and water conservation.
    • Ensure the constant flow of information through all areas.
    • Ensure all relevant information is communicated to all team members at all times.
    • Assist and participate in all communication meetings in order to discuss all new changes and practices taking place and discuss any problems or suggestions in the department.
    • Maintain highest levels of personal hygiene at all times.
    • Ensure that company and statutory hygiene standards are maintained in all work areas.
    • Be fully aware about all health and safety, fire and emergency procedures.
    • Responsible to report any potential hazardous situations within the work place.
    • Maintain a high standard of appearance and grooming at all times, as per One&Only standard.
    • Apply and adhere to rules and regulations as per employee handbook, departmental and hotel policies and procedures, including those for the emergency situations
    • Develop and maintain an understanding of the overall organization’s mission, vision and values.
    • Project a favorable image of One&Only Cape Town and One&Only Resorts to the public.
    • Practice proper telephone etiquette with colleagues and hotel guests.
    • Ensure all activities are carried out honestly, ethically and within the parameters of the South African Law

    Education or Certification

    • General good etiquette and very good communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills, as the job requires frequent interaction and communication with guests
    • Highly organized, courteous, friendly, professional and amiable
    • Good listener and able to transmit information accurately
    • Customer service focused
