    SA Head of Commercial (Opex/Capex)

    Job Description    

    • The SA Head of Commercial(Procurement) is accountable in managing the commerciality and sourcing of all products, commodities, contract services, and suppliers for +-300 Restaurants in South Africa by applying procurement best practice with the aim of improving quality, innovation, service to restaurants and minimising total cost of ownership, whilst mitigating risks to ensure restaurants sales, stabilized GP and EBITDA improvement

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Honours degree or equivalent NQF level 8 qualification in Supply chain or Procurement or relevant field
    • Driver’s License and own vehicle
    • CIPS and SAPICS Membership & Accreditation 
    • 10 years’ experience in a relevant industry, with at least 7 years in a senior procurement, supply chain or relevant role, and at least 5 years international procurement experience (advantageous)
    • Experience in managing budget spend of a minimum of R 2 Billion per annum
    • Advantageous: Opex and Capex (Build) and Project management experience in the food and beverage industry or other related industry

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    Sourcing Strategy Formulation and Procurement Policies and Procedures

    • Develop and implement sourcing and procurement strategies, aligning to the 3-5 years IMEA Strategy and the Global Nando’s Supply Chain strategy
    • Lead strategic sourcing and supply management activities for a category of spend with the goal of achieving stabilized or improved restaurant GP’s, menu pricing less than inflation, assured and quality products supply for improved sales and influence and support new product development.
    • Develop and implement category plans, aligned to the regional brand and business plan that ensure cost reduction such as value analysis, engineering and standardization – impacting restaurants GP, EBITDA and our overall menu pricing
    • Conduct buying power assessments and analyse cost structures
    • Establish and align the category/commodity budget with the overall strategic objectives of Nando’s
    • Benchmark direct and indirect costs across competitors and suppliers across the region
    • Evaluate the revision, price and overall cost of each contract relating to R/$ exchange rate, inflation, commodity costs etc
    • Conduct research in problematic areas of considerable scope and complexity
    • Prepare business case(s) and provide options to internal customers that deliver solutions aligned with the customer’s expectations and business objectives whilst mitigating risks and protecting Nando’s
    • Drive appropriate best practices in strategic sourcing, category and commodity management
    • Integrate projects and initiatives for overall delivery of Supply Chain goals
    • Develop, in conjunction with the Supply Chain Director, procurement policies and processes as required, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose and communicated to relevant internal stakeholders, including IT or electronic systems relevant to such policy or process
    • Uphold internal policies and governance requirements as well as adherence to all relevant regulations and laws

    Stakeholders Management

    • Oversee the selection and management of key Suppliers
    • Evaluate Suppliers based on delivery, price, quality, support and reliability
    • Develop Supplier reviews and scorecards in conjunction with the relevant stakeholders
    • Manage primary and contingency Suppliers through bi-annual reviews and on-going interactions
    • Ensure compliance to respective market legislation and endurance to ethical sourcing practices
    • Develop short-, medium- and long-term strategies with suppliers to mutual drives restaurants sales either via promotions, funding etc
    • Maintain external stakeholder relationships i.e suppliers, their sub-contractors (where relevant), Franchisees
    • Maintaining relevant internal stakeholder relationships across business units, presenting business cases to SA EXCO and OPSCO for approval
    • Play an influential role with cross functional projects 

    People Management

    • Actively manage the performance and potential of direct team, providing coaching, mentorship and leadership to support problem solving, assess productivity and recommend changes where required
    • Participate in recruitment, talent management and succession planning activities
    • Create an engaged and motivated workforce by establishing an environment that fosters collaboration through effective communication, trust, enjoyment, wellbeing, learning and development
    • Lead the department in such a manner as to foster innovation and technological excellence
    • Participate in setting KPIs, guiding the achievement thereof
    • Participate in recruitment process for the procurement market team
    • Lead and manage output of the SA Opex/Capex commercial (procurement) team
