    Sales Manager

    Overview of the role 

    • The Sales Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Sales department, ensuring sales targets and profitability objectives are met through effective team management, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
    • Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Sales Manager will develop and execute strategies to drive sales growth, manage inventory levels, and maintain cost control, while delivering exceptional customer experiences.
    • This role also involves overseeing the department’s financial performance, training and staffing requirements, and maximizing the sale of additional products. 

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Lead the Used Vehicles department to meet or exceed sales forecasts and profitability targets. 
    • Develop and manage a high-performing sales team, ensuring adequate staffing levels and training to meet objectives. 
    • Oversee inventory management to ensure optimum stock levels are maintained, in line with company policy. 
    • Implement cost controls and monitor the department’s financial performance to stay within budget. 
    • Review pricing policies, discounts, and trade-in dealings to ensure dealership profitability. 
    • Ensure the timely and effective resolution of customer complaints, maintaining high customer satisfaction and retention. 
    • Drive the sale of back-end products to maximize revenue. 
    • Monitor and enforce the adherence to all relevant vehicle legislation and trade practices. 
    • Manage all floorplan activities, ensuring proper stock levels and financial alignment. 
    • Motivate the sales team to achieve departmental goals and foster a positive, results-driven culture.. 

    Education and Experience 

    • A university degree in finance or business is an advantage 
    • 5+ years in a leadership role, including: 
    • 2+ years managing a sales team of 10+ staff 
    • Demonstrated experience in a high-pressure, target-driven environment — preferably in used or new car sales 
    • Track record of hands-on problem-solving and driving business improvement 
    • Calm, professional, and meticulous attention to detail 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
