Section Head: Cyber Crime and Deep Web Investigations: Division: Detective and Forensic Services: Re-Advertisement (at the level of Brigadier) Ref Number: 26/10/3881 at South African Police Service (SAPS)

Generic appointment requirements applicable to all posts: 

Applicants:

• Must be fluent in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English; 
• Must have a valid light motor vehicle drivers’ licence: 
• Must have no tattoo mark(s) which will be visible when wearing any uniform of the Service; 
• Will be subjected to a preliminary security clearance vetting, which must reflect no negative issue against such candidate; and 
• Will be required to undergo a Lifestyle Audit and Top Secret Security Clearance Vetting process. 

The following generic competencies are applicable to every post: 

• The post requires skills in: strategic capability, analytical ability and leadership, programme and project management, financial management, change management, service delivery innovation, problem solving and analysis, people management and empowerment, client orientation, audit and assurance, audit and risk management experience, stake holder 

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS 

Applicants:

• Must have at least a three (3) year Degree or Diploma (accredited by SAQA on NQF level 6 or higher) in Information Technology (IT) or equivalent 3 year qualification relevant to the core functions of the post. 
• An applicable post graduate qualification relevant to the core functions of the post, relevant training and development in Management, Leadership and / or Project Management, knowledge, training and proficiency of the Efficiency Index (Performance Chart), CRIM, CAS and / or Circulation Systems may be an added advantage; 
• Training in the use of the following tools may be an advantage: Amped Five, Axiom, Data Pilot, XRY, Encase, FTK among others; 
• The successful completion of a Detective Course / Detective Learning Programme / Resolving of Crime (ROC) and / or Detective Commander’s Course / Detective Commander Learning Programme (DCLP) will serve as an added advantage; and 
• Must have a minimum period of three years’ appropriate managerial experience. 

CORE FUNCTIONS: 

• To ensure the rendering of an effective and efficient investigation of Cyber Crime and Deep Web Investigation. 
• Manage the effective and efficient investigation of case dockets and enquiries regarding Dark Web Investigation and Analysis. 
• Manage the coordination of Cyber Crime Investigations within the Detective Service (Including Provinces). 
• Manage the Operational management of the Section.
• Manage and utilise human, financial, physical and information resources in the immediate post environment in accordance with the strategies, priorities and regulatory framework of the SAPS.
