    Senior Human Resource Officer

    Introduction

    • This role covers all pillars of HR: Payroll and Admin, Recruitment, Learning and Development, Special Projects and General Affairs.

    Purpose:

    The primary purpose of this job is to provide all administrative and assistance services necessary to efficiently and effectively support the HR departmental team in Johannesburg as required in a professional and timely manner. The Senior HR Officer will assist in implementation of Global HR initiatives and practices and will support the HR Lead to maximize staffing resources and performance, promote a positive organizational culture, minimize risk and ensure economy and efficiency of work processes.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Recruitment

    • Help coordinate all recruitment activity, where necessary.
    • Responsible for getting the candidates to complete paperwork for verification of information as required including background, qualifications, employment, financial and creditworthiness checks.
    • Administer pre-employment tests for both medical and operations assessments.
    • Maintains the Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database as needed, including Recruitment tracker, Talent tracker/ Movements reports
    • Maintains and monitor legally binding service level agreement (SLA) contracts with key external recruitment providers.
    • Maintain a record keeping system for legal, administrative, information and reporting purposes and be able to locate these records, on demand.

    Payroll & Benefits

    • Provide advice to staff and managers in relation to pay, taxation, medical aid and pension fund.
    • Assist with the creation of sample payslips
    • Ensure all records are accurately maintained and updated regularly in line with data protection (manual and on shared folder).
    • Keep all employees’ personal files systematically and update information as necessary.

    Learning and Development

    • Responsible for new employee induction and on-boarding
    • Manage probation for all new hires
    • Manage EAP vendor and provide monthly update report
    • Manage all administrative duties relating to employee development and learning
    • Responsible for all L&D related calendars and relevant training for local staff
    • Responsible for keeping track of all local training within the business for submission of WSP/ATR
    • Assist in, or take ownership of learning and development projects
    • Manage the SA Training and CSR budget.

    General Affairs

    • Assist with the management of the BBBEE project.
    • Assist with the coordination of various committees: i.e. – Employment Equity, Skills and OHS.
    • Assist with/take responsibility of employment relations within the business.

    Other

    • Work closely with the HR lead and assist with projects as and when required.
    • Provides support to employees in the interpretation of HR policies and guidelines
    • Capture, submit and track all invoices relevant to the HR department
    • Assist in maintaining company organizational charts, when necessary
    • Responsible for planning and scheduling of staff meetings.
    • In collaboration with the HR team, develop the HR Calendar and objectives for the year.
    • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as required and assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Degree in Human Resource Management/Industrial Psychology

    Required Work Experience:

    • At least 3 years of working experience within HR
    • Experience of working in a complex multicultural matrix organization (advantageous)
    • Experience in Payroll (advantageous)
    • Experience in employee/industrial relations (preferable)

    Required Skills and Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of HR functions (payroll & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
    • Understanding of labour laws and disciplinary procedures.
    • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus.
    • Networking skills, ability to collaborate and work within a demanding and culturally diverse matrix organization.
    • Results driven.
    • Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Financial acumen an advantage.
