Senior Lecturer / Lecturer: Faculty of Arts & Design at Durban University of Technology

SENIOR LECTURER / LECTURER: SCIENCE EDUCATION (REF: IC19)  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

SENIOR LECTURER:   

• A relevant Doctoral Degree in Education specialising in Science Education or related field.
• Ability to lecture Physics/ Chemistry/ Technical Science/ Biology or related field.
• At least 5 years of teaching experience in Higher Education.
• At least 3 years teaching the relevant science subject
• Evidence of research scholarship appropriate for this level as evidenced by publications - DHET-accredited journals will be advantageous.
• Supervision of Masters/Doctoral students

*Note: Applicants may apply for the Lecturer position if they do

not meet criteria for Senior Lecturer

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

LECTURER: 

• Masters in education specialising in Science Education or related field OR
• Masters in education with B. Ed Honours in Physics/ Chemistry/ Technical Science/ Biology or related field.
• At least 3-5 years of teaching experience.
• A Doctorate Degree is an added advantage.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES   

• Teaching and examining of courses in all the programmes in the School of Education as assigned by the Head of School.
• Administration related to teaching, research, relevant community engagement activities and other academic duties assigned by the Head of Department.
• Attending and contributing to staff meetings, programme design and all academic activities within the School of Education
• Conducting research and using innovative curricular and teaching methods co stimulate creativity and generate new knowledge and solutions.
• Participate in Work Integrated Learning.
• Undertake and Supervise research
• Participate in research development
• Be willing to participate in curriculum development
• Engage in community/External Engagement Services including playing an active role in the functioning of Professional and subject-related associations.
• Develop and write study material.
