A professional postgraduate qualification in Urban Design (e.g. MUD or MCPUD) as well as an undergraduate Built Environment degree (preferably Architecture: BTech or BAS or B.Hon), recognised by the relevant professional accreditation body
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience at an appropriate level
Experience in local Government will serve as an advantage
A valid Code EB driver’s licence
Key Performance Areas
Manage the design and implementation of the capital programmes and projects of the department emanating from the planning process
Provide specialist planning, design and project management services and coordination to the packaging of large scale or complex strategic local area forward planning and development initiatives
Manage the development of urban design frameworks to ensure the achievement of positive urban design outcomes in with regard to strategic projects
Manage and develop city wide urban design strategies, principles, policies and guidelines
Assess and monitor compliance of complex urban development proposals to urban design guidelines and policies
Facilitate participation of relevant stakeholders in the identification, development and adoption of urban design strategies, policies, guidelines and urban design projects and programmes
Support the processes relating to the development of urban design strategies, policies and guidelines
