Senior Professional Officer - Urban Design at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• A professional postgraduate qualification in Urban Design (e.g. MUD or MCPUD) as well as an undergraduate Built Environment degree (preferably Architecture: BTech or BAS or B.Hon), recognised by the relevant professional accreditation body
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience at an appropriate level
• Experience in local Government will serve as an advantage
• A valid Code EB driver’s licence

Key Performance Areas

• Manage the design and implementation of the capital programmes and projects of the department emanating from the planning process
• Provide specialist planning, design and project management services and coordination to the packaging of large scale or complex strategic local area forward planning and development initiatives
• Manage the development of urban design frameworks to ensure the achievement of positive urban design outcomes in with regard to strategic projects
• Manage and develop city wide urban design strategies, principles, policies and guidelines
• Assess and monitor compliance of complex urban development proposals to urban design guidelines and policies
• Facilitate participation of relevant stakeholders in the identification, development and adoption of urban design strategies, policies, guidelines and urban design projects and programmes
• Support the processes relating to the development of urban design strategies, policies and guidelines
