Senior Researcher: Products, Services and Solutions at SITA SOC (Ltd)

Purpose of the job

Deliver commercial benchmarking on SITA’s Products, Services and Solutions within the PSS Department, that include price and feature comparisons. Benchmarking will contribute to decision-making on products and services on the SITA Service Catalogue, both for the revision of existing and packaging of new products and services, in accordance with ICT standards and the SITA Products and Services Lifecycle Management Framework (PSLMF).

Key Responsibility Areas

• Benchmarking of products, services and customer solutions in terms of features and price
• Presentation of findings to stakeholders
• Manage resources within the department to ensure efficient operation and optimal utilisation thereof
• Participate in the development and implementation of Architectural mechanisms, by providing research to support the development of GWEA to improve interoperability of government systems by the ICT Innovation & Research
• Provide pro-active ICT research services and distribution of research material to government departments and to SITA internal business units so as to meet: ICT Innovation & Research service delivery commitments
• Provide basic research on public services and impact on citizens so as to meet service delivery commitments
• Ensure that resources are kept abreast of the latest industry developments and ensure that appropriate technologies are used for knowledge management so as to ensure that innovation and improved productivity

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum: Bachelors degree in ICT or related field at NQF 7 level.

Experience: 6 - 7 years’ experience in research of the ICT field, including research on ICT technologies, experience with product benchmarking/ commercial packaging/ product management, market analysis, benchmarking, development, implementation and maintenance/ enhancements of integrated solutions across multiple hardware and software platforms with leadership, general management and operational responsibility in a large corporate/ public sector organization.

Experience in ICT research within the corporate/public sector, including:

• Leadership with strong abilities in relationship management;
• Established track record of managing staff (Cross-functional environment experience highly desirable);
• Research and published papers on IT; 
• Demonstrated project management competency;
• Familiarity with commercial packaging and product management
• Research analysis of efficient and effective IT solutions to diverse and complex business problems.

Technical Competencies Description

Knowledge of: Business Analysis; Business Process Management; IT Quality Management; IT Security; ICT Standards; COTS (Commercial of the Shelf) Products; OSS (Open Source Software) Products; IT Strategies and Architectures; Project Management; and Product benchmarking.

Skills: Business, statistical and market analysis; and Product benchmarking

The incumbent will be required to consult and interact with Government Officials, research houses, academic institutions including the GITO Council.
