Senior Systems Engineer at Altron Bytes Systems Integration

Job Function:

Technical Lead on Project Implementations and To Provide Support and mentorship to the Operational Engineers

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain baseline architectures for all Infrastructure services provided by Altron BSI
• Investigate new and better ways of doing things across all Infrastructure Solutions Services at the client
• Assess and report on the mitigation of risk prone areas
• Exploitation of current products
• Investigate integration opportunities to automate and improve on current service.
• Assist with upgrade of existing products and exploitation of new features to maximize business benefit
• Assist with the implementation and rollout of the customer’s initiatives throughout the year, working closely with Operations Managers.
• Assist with cross functional requirements that have touch points on other areas of the customer’s infrastructure that is not directly supported by Altron BSI
• Assist Pre-Sales team with Pre-Sales activity
• Responsible for compiling Technical (Architecture) documentation
• Responsible for Service Transition i.e. Build to Run space

Job Requirements

Education Required:

• Min of Gr12 / NQF4 and an IT Diploma or relevant B-degree
• ITIL foundation certification
• Microsoft Certifications: MCSA, MCSE etc.
• Cisco Certification CCNA (Routing and Switching)
• Relevant job-related technical certifications
• Other technical qualifications such as CCNA, CCNE, SNIA, CISSP etc. will also be advantageous

Experience Required

• Min of 5 years’ experience as a Senior System Engineer / Technical Lead
• Exposure to managing Enterprise Organizations
• Can manage a virtual technical team during a project implementation

• Strong programming or scripting skills
• Working Knowledge of LAN and WAN technology
• Systems Integration skills, i.e. API, Web Services (WSDL) etc.
• Very good working knowledge of Wintel Server hardware and MS Server operating systems.
• Very good working knowledge of Hypervisors such as VMware and Hyper-V
• Very good working knowledge of Clustering
• Can analyse a technical problem and formulate a solution
• Can do a chalk and talk session on the white board
• Excellent communication skills (Written and Verbal)
• Working experience with:
• MS Exchange
• O365
• Active Directory
• Clustering

Advantageous Competencies

• Strong working knowledge of SCOM
• Strong working knowledge of SCCM
