Knowledge

• Proficient understanding of database systems, operating systems and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS)/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) application software e.g. Linux, Oracle, Windows, Structured Query Language (SQL), etc.
• Basic understanding of protocols used in operation technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems e.g. transmission control protocol (TCP)/internet protocol (IP), distributed network protocol (DNP3), information, International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC)101, IEC61850, inter control centre communications protocol (ICCP), Eskom Standard for Telecommunications (ESTEL), Estel Variant (EV) etc.
• Basic understanding of telecommunication networks e.g. Bandwidth Management Equipment (BME), Area Radio Analogue/Digital, general packet radio service (GPRS), Satellite
• Basic understanding of telecontrol technologies e.g. remote terminal unit (RTU), Fault Path Indicator (FPI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Simulator (SimSCADA), intelligent electronic device (IED)
• Basic understanding of computer networks e.g. local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), Firewalls, virtual private network (VPN)
• Basic understanding of Distribution Management System (DMS) tools e.g., load flow, training simulator, etc.
• Basic understanding of ADMS integration into business systems e.g. Geographical Data Capture (GDC), Engineering Network Schematics (ENS), Outage Management System (OMS), Integration Bus
• Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS)
• Basic understanding of cyber security e.g. active directory (AD), antivirus (AV), program management (PM), demilitarized zone (DMZ), firewall (FW)
