    SENIOR USER EXPERIENCE CONSULTANT/DESIGNER HYBRID

Johannesburg (hybrid) – 6 month FTC (renewable)

We are looking for a Senior User Experience Consultant/Designer hybrid:

A passionate, creative thinker who has an insistence of following human-centred design principles. (Or… a pretty awesome kind of Unicorn!)

    Key skills:

This role will be predominantly providing user experience research consultancy expertise, requiring skills such as:

    • Having an intimate understanding of the user experience environment, where you have strong experience in using data and insight about people's actions and behaviours to inform the design of digital product experiences.
    • Solid working experience in planning and facilitating one-to-one interviews, focus groups, diary studies, contextual research and other qualitative methods as well as designing and analysing quantitative studies.
    • An ambassador for design thinking, and human-centric design processes, methods and frameworks
    • Experience in communicating and delivering presentations both internally and externally in a clear and confident manner.
    • Proven ability to provide direction and strategy for clients, balancing the needs of the business and those of their customers.
    • Awareness and understanding of how analytics can complement behavioural insights.

In addition to this, you will have a strong understanding and experience of taking insights through to insight-led wireframes and prototypes that bring brands to life.

    • A willingness to explore the problem space before iteratively exploring solutions to meet those problems.
    • experience in iterating and presenting design ideas, interactions and flows with confidence, guiding clients through the process.
    • Skilled in working independently or collaboratively with other designers in an Agile environment to create great user experiences.
    • Commercially aware, with an understanding of what it takes to make change happen in large organisations.

    The role:

    • 75 % of your time will be spent planning and executing rigorous end-to-end custom research using the most appropriate methodology, but especially qualitative methods, and partner with the analytics practice to distil data-informed recommendations and best practices.
    • While on projects and programmes, you will work closely with cross-functional teams (Product Management, design, engineering) and other researchers in refining research approaches and making insights-based product recommendations.
    • The outcomes of your work will involve delivering actionable insights that help make our client’s product experiences measurably better.
    • Throughout engagements, you will be regularly communicating results and illustrating suggestions in compelling and creative ways to a broad and diverse audience, and across organisational boundaries.
    • The other part of your role will be focussed on UX design. You will create exceptional low-fidelity iterations, branching out to explore a range of ideas and solutions across different routes, guiding the client through iterative user-centred design processes and methods.
    • You will develop ideas and concepts from initial wireframes, through to low-fidelity designs as well as prototype and present ideas, interactions and flows with confidence among the design team and clients, all while taking on feedback and iterate based on insights.
    • You'll support the costing and planning activity of design deliverables, report on the status of such deliverables to the Delivery team and notify them of any risks.

    Our methodology:

    • Develop creative methods and approaches to support the Insight and Data practice.
    • Thought leadership in Insight and Data, such as contributing to industry panels and whitepapers as well as internal training.
    • Plan, design and execute a wide range of research methods such as stakeholder /customer interviews, diary studies, surveys, usability testing, contextual research.
    • Define the best approach to client briefs, assist in scoping work and participate in pitch teams.
    • Advise clients and colleagues on how best to gather insight and data to drive decision making.
    • Be a trusted advisor for our clients. Help grow and nurture long-term client relationships through a deep understanding of their business objectives, past projects and future ambitions.
    • Objectivity and people-centricity in everything we do
    • Focus on the problems before contemplating solutions
    • Derive solutions through an iterative, collaborative design process.
    • Ensure customers play a role throughout
    • Work with our clients to create solutions that provide utility, are usable, and create engaging, desirable experiences around their products and services.
