Specialist: Data Analytics at The South African Revenue Service (SARS)

Job Purpose

• The candidate should provide actionable insights that can be easily interpreted by business through designing, developing, and maintaining ongoing or new reports, dashboards and training through data storytelling, visualisation and adoption of new views that will drive decision making and improvement opportunities.

The candidate needs to:

• Understand business problems and design end-to-end analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to obtain business requirements.
• Extract and aggregate data from large databases.
• Conduct data discovery and analysis for insights and recommendations.
• Transform and translate data into visualisations that would be insightful to business users using data story telling techniques.
   

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

• Relevant Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 8) AND 8-10 years' experience in Business Data Intelligence / Data Analysis, of which 3-4 years is at an operational specialist level.

OR

• Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 15 years in experience in Business Data Intelligence / Data Analysis, of which 3-4 years is at an operational specialist level.

Minimum Functional Requirements

• Intermediate experience in Business Data Intelligence specifically in Business/Data analysis
• Intermediate (practical application) technical expertise regarding data processes, analysis, reporting and testing.
• Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (SQL, Microsoft PowerBI), databases (SQL) programming skills (SQL).
• Basic Data Visualisation, Business Intelligence Methodologies and Microsoft skills (Advance in)– i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI.
