    TEACHING, LEARNING DEVELOPMENT PRACTITIONER REF. NO. 1321

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Master’s Degree
    • Three (3) years relevant experience in Higher Education, student development with emphasis in teaching, learning and assessment.
       

    Knowledge

    • Higher Education Act/Regulatory Policy; Funding Framework, SAQA Act, HE Policy frameworks, HEQC policies and procedures
    • Research design and methodology
    • Project Management and Teamwork
    • Confidence in original field of study and teaching subjects.
    • Computer proficiency
    • Teaching and learning philosophy, practice and methods
       

    Additional Requirements:

    • Computer proficiency
    • Transformation/change management skills
    • Ability to manage & analyse information
    • Ability to solve problems in changing and new contexts
       

    Summary of duties:

    • Contributes in the research, design, development & review of Teaching and Learning, curriculum development and institutional development policies, procedures, systems & instruments as required, in line with relevant legislation, national standards & international best practice, This includes:
    • Participating in focus group discussions,
    • analysing results of focus group discussions, d
    • rafting, piloting, refining, producing &
    • distributing policies, procedures, systems & tools e.g. questionnaires
    • Implementation of national and institutional policy related to Teaching and Learning through student and academic staff development,
    • Teach and develop students in academic literacy and numeracy
    • Provide training for staff and tutors in supporting student development activities
    • Co-ordinate, Assess, analyse and review academic proficiency tests for entrance into academic programs
    • Conduct induction of new academic staff into DUT e.g. provide a 6 month induction on teaching and learning in Higher Education
    • Provide accredited Assessor training to staff
    • Teach and supervise DUT staff in the field of Higher Education Studies
    • Provide training for academic staff on a wide spectrum of curriculum issues eg Learner Guide Development
    • Reports on project progress in monthly departmental meetings.
