    Technician

    Requirements

    • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
    • ECSA Registered as a Candidate Engineering Technician.
    • 3 – 5 years’ (post first relevant tertiary qualification) experience.
    • Computer Literacy
    • Valid Code B or EB Drivers Licence.

    Special Conditions:

    • Ability to perform standby duties and work flexible hours.
    • Required to work in all weather conditions.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Providing technical advice to District’s on matters pertaining to specialized support on maintenance and network/equipment performances.
    • Ensure that adequate standards are adhered to maintenance projects are implemented as planned, the distribution network system complies with the NERSA license requirement and NRS 048.
    • Co-ordinating, in liaison with Engineering Branch, electricity supply project developments for residential, commercial and industrial usages, as and when required.
    • Provide technical support in implementing and auditing planned maintenance programmes, developing tender specifications, and monitoring service provider performance to ensure compliance with technical and contractual standards.
    • Respond to technical maintenance enquiries, analyse major outages, and contribute to corrective actions and infrastructure improvements to ensure systems align with policies and operational requirements.
    • Coordinate administrative tasks including preparation of investigation and productivity reports, budget checks, requisitions, and operational documentation to support service delivery and compliance.
    • Capture actuals on SAP, respond to queries through research and data extraction, and ensure reporting procedures align with operational and policy requirements.
    • Coordinate and supervise field personnel and contractors to ensure safe, productive, and compliant execution of daily tasks.
