Purpose of the Position:

• To Ensure a world class viewing experience that is aesthetically pleasing and error-free for the Channels by conducting pre and post verification procedures and managing live events on broadcast and publication across all platforms

Key Performance Objectives

Tasks

PRE-BROADCAST ACCURACY OF LINEAR SCHEDULES

• QA Schedule flow on Edit Bus / Broadcast equipment before broadcast.
• Verify for accuracy all secondary events on the schedule (aesthetically pleasing to the subscriber)
• Escalation, reporting and resolution of all anomalies to the correct person
• Zero scheduling related errors reported by playout

 
LIVE EVENTS/QUICK TURNAROUNDS

• Zero errors on Live TX and quick turnaround content (Normal and High Profile Events)
• Ensure quick turnaround content is available for all platforms (Catch up/SVOD/Linear) within deadline
• In the event of On Air errors, execute emergency procedures with input from channel with immediate escalation to On Air Manager and HOD
• In the event of an overrun, ensure that EPG is updated accordingly.
• Active monitoring of Live Off-Air broadcast in the SCCR.
• Provide an internal feedback report after live broadcast using Incident Management System.

 
MULTIPLATFORM QUALITY ASSURANCE

• Check availability of Catch-up content as per schedule across all platforms.
• Ensure that all blocked content as per the content rights management system is not broadcast via DSTV now streaming application
• Contribute to the 97% Catch Up availability to our subscribers
• Contribute to the 99.997% on-air availability for the Business on linear channels

 
MCR PRESENCE/AVAILABILITY

• Be available and present for quick resolution to all MCR escalations.
• Assist with Content changes, EPG updates and emergency straps
• Ensure execution of all updated schedules are implemented by MCR
• Implement emergency procedures as per SOP in the event of a BCP scenario
• Represent the channels during all broadcasts

REPORTING, CONTROLS AND PROCESSES

• All anomalies encountered are to be reported and resolved on the Incident Management system daily
• Track all unresolved escalations and outstanding content appearing on the RedZone list daily
• Ensure that all BCP/DR/Emergency procedures are implemented correctly and appropriately
• All interdepartmental Escalations are done to the correct person and timeously
• Provide detailed handovers using Incident Management System after each shift to the On-Air team and the Playout department.
• Ensure compliance and adherence to all departmental SOPs.

INNOVATION/ UPSKILLING

• Provide input to streamline processes and procedures in On Air
• Share innovative ideas with team in the form of a presentation/report

Qualifications Essential

• A National Diploma in Business Management/ Broadcast/ Media Studies or equivalent NQF Level 5 qualification

Degree
Experience

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in broadcast or similar position
• Video Entertainment Industry specific knowledge and experience
• Media and content experience
