Capital Planning & Execution Manager (0045/2020/BB)

Summary of Role

• Responsible for stewarding Astron Energy’s capital expenditure across the value chain to ensure shareholder value creation. Lead a team of Analysts.

Responsibilities

•  Provide inputs into the Value Office (VO) team to formulate capital expenditure governance processes
•  Ensure that capital expenditure processes are adhered to
•  Ensure connection with procurement processes for contract renewals
• Report out to Project Review Board
• Leads the preparation of annual business wide capex plan
• Steward the approval for expenditure process
• Ensure that approval for expenditure documents are completed correctly with appropriate information included for decision-making
• Ensure that approval for expenditure documents include the required economic analysis and justification as applicable
• Present AFE documents to CFO for approval
• Lead the annual Capital Planning process
• Set timelines for completion and synchronize with Business Plan timelines
• Assess capital projects for strategic alignment
• Review economics for Capital Plan requests
• Conduct constructive Capital Plan challenge sessions
• Consolidate Capital Plans for management review
• Present capital plan at management review sessions

Qualifications

•  CA(SA) or engineer with MBA qualification will be preferred
• The incumbent must have minimum 10 years work experience with experience in developing capital plans, reporting, project management, execution and generating economics to support project decisions.

Skills

• Understanding of project management / capital stewardship processes and tools
•  Experience in developing business plans.
• A thorough understanding of the commercial drivers that impact enterprise profitability and returns on investment
• The ability to articulate business performance through excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• The ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
• The ability to lead a team to deliver on expectations.
• Much of the success of this role depends on the ability of the incumbent to influence performance.
