    Surveyor UG 2 - Westonaria

    The Surveyor’s primary duties will revolve around using unconventional surveying instruments, gathering crucial topographical and mining data within designated sections, and managing data entry tasks. The Surveyor’s role extends to the creation and mark-up of drawings according to specifications to guarantee flawless technical accuracy.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
    • COM Elementary Survey Certificate or National Diploma in Mine Surveying
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an underground Surveyor
    • Trackless mining and voids processing experience
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the Health and Safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in the  planning and execution of operational activities
    • Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by participating in and contributing to operational safety campaigns, applying relevant legislative, operational and safe work standards and regulations and, instituting and monitoring appropriate remedial actions
    • Conduct and participate in assigned inspections, investigations, auditing and quality control activities to ensure compliance with relevant MHSA regulations, explosives management and company standards
    • Interfacing with key departments to ensure compliance and reduce operations downtime
    • Responsible and accountable for the accurate installation and surveying of underground and surface survey stations in accordance with legal and mine standards

    General Miner - Westonaria

    The General Miner is accountable to the Environmental Engineering department and is responsible for planning, scheduling and safely executing ventilation maintenance, construction and related projects.  The incumbent will lead a maintenance team charged with the safe and cost effectively delivery of daily tasks ensuring full compliance with operational standards and MHSA regulations.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
    • Blasting Certificate
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a deep level gold mine with experience in mine ventilation maintenance and construction
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    • Participate in, and lead daily, and scheduled safety, health, environmental and risk management campaigns ensuring that teams actively demonstrate safe work practice at all times
    • Ensure optimal application of set health and safety standards of self and team members and take immediate appropriate remedial action to maintain standards and procedures in area of responsibility
    • Attend and actively participate in daily team briefing sessions and Invocoms as required to plan, receive, and assign daily SHE, risk assessment and work schedule instructions
    • Assign, lead and collaborate with teams to conduct appropriate task risk assessments, safe work task planning, task and job material and equipment planning, etc.
    • Maintain disciplined work and team conduct through frequent Planned Task Observations (PTOs) to ensure that teams are executing tasks to the required safety standards, performance specifications and, record and execute remedial actions and measures as required
    • Ensure the maintenance of safe working environments for teams and area of responsibility by conducting workplace inspections throughout the shift and take appropriate action or escalate as required to maintain workplaces in a safe condition
    • Ensure that daily ventilation tasks are clearly communicated and understood by all team members and that appropriate interventions are instituted to maintain the safe delivery of all targets

    Asst Officer Administration - Westonaria

    The Assistant Officer Administration fulfils the role of an analyst on all reporting and information gathering required by the Protection Services Department.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 qualification or equivalent

    Supervisor Health And Safety SF - Westonaria

    The Supervisor Health & Safety is accountable for partnering with Business Partners, operational leadership and their teams to assess the application, completeness and quality of operational health and safety management systems, processes, policies, procedures and standards.  The incumbent is responsible to collaboratively develop plans and interventions to ensure compliance with prescribed regulations, operational standards and campaigns to ensure optimal and sustainable application of the safety management system.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 qualification or equivalent
    • Be in possession of a Degree/National Diploma in Health and Safety Management
    • Be in possession of a Trade Certificate or a Blasting Certificate
    • Completed COMSOC 1 and 2 Certification
    • Must have at least 3 years’ appropriate trackless mining experience
    • At least 15 years’ experience as a safety specialist with a flair for leading contractor safe work practice
    • Registered with SACPCMP for construction safety
    • Audit qualifications as lead auditor for NOSA,OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001
    • Traffic safety knowledge
    • Tailing Storage Facility knowledge and environmental management
    • In-depth knowledge of knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)

    Trackless Foreman Eng Mechanical - Westonaria

    The role of the Trackless Supervisor is to effectively manage a multi-disciplinary team of Trackless Artisans, to ensure health and safety standards are adhered to and that the Drill Rig fleet is maintained to the highest standards to increase availability and reliability.   The Trackless Supervisor also ensures that condition monitoring information is used to improve overall fleet effectiveness and collaborates with other departments to ensure maintenance/refurbishment is effective and breakdowns are repaired with minimal downtime.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
    • Relevant Trade Certificate
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a mechanized mining environment as an Artisan and 2 years in a Supervisory capacity
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    • Ensure Health and Safety of section and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities
    • Perform inspections in accordance with the MHSA regulations and company standards
    • Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation health safety environmental security policies and procedures and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion
    • Lead and supervise team to ensure optimal safe working practice, focussed preventative maintenance and breakdown management and, special tasks/projects as assigned
    • Manage all team performance, development, and coaching to ensure optimal delivery
    • Carry out Planned Task Observations (PTOs) to verify capability of team members and initiate remediation measures to improve individual capability which includes on-the-job coaching
    • Lead and participate in failure investigations on installations, equipment, components, etc. to implement and/or recommend changes in maintenance and operating practice and, engage with OEM, suppliers and intermediaries as required to assist with investigations and the formulation of remediation interventions, etc.
    • Responsible for implementation of the asset management strategy and tactical interventions in respect of all related installations, plant, equipment, etc. in area of responsibility
    • Engage and participate in mechanised development process optimisation interventions to ensure continuous alignment to prescribed best practice standards
    • Responsible for the maintenance of trackless equipment and to maintain standards and conditions within the TM3 section
    • Responsible for the safe and proper installation of equipment
    • Participate in and formulate annual section budgets, manage budget, spares inventory, including the placing and follow-up of orders
