    Senior Manager: Credit (Wholesale)

    Job Description

    Credit Sanctioning

    • Perform quality credit sanctioning within the Operational Level Agreement (OLA), being cognizant of risks, being solutions-driven, and considering compliance requirements.
    • Assist stakeholders with growth by assessing, structuring, and solutions to client needs, ensuring adherence and compliance with credit policies, processes, terms, and conditions.
    • This includes evaluation and structuring of new opportunities, initial credit due diligence, and preparing recommendations to the credit committee as well as ongoing monitoring.
    • Evaluate a company’s stability, the adeptness of the management team, and creditworthiness by analyzing relevant documents including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, financial projections, etc. Validates any assumptions, projects, and overall borrower viability and ability to repay the credit request
    • Conduct a full assessment of the risks and potential mitigating factors impacting on a client.
    • Perform robust financial and non-financial analysis on the client that supports the review of facilities or new funding proposals.
    • Make use of clients' historical data, for example, financial statements to forecast the clients’ potential growth and sustainability.
    • Conduct a sensitivity/scenario analysis to determine the impact that a change in, for example, the economy, political situation, and consumer demand, will have on the client’s financial health.
    • Based on the analysis conducted structure a lending solution for the client, that will account for the potential threats to the client and that is within set credit limits and the Bank's credit lending policies and appetite.
    • Compile a proposal that summarizes, the client’s background and needs, the research findings, and the final recommendation on which credit lending solution is best for the client, for the Credit Committee to approve in the interim and escalate further for the necessary approval.

    Portfolio and Risk Management

    • Proactively maintain and manage the assigned portfolio within agreed KPIs.

    Officer Floorplan Inspections

    Job Summary

    • To coordinate, plan & deliver day-to-day team tasks & activities in order to execute building services accurately & timeously in support of org. policy compliance through the execution of predefined objectives as per agreed SOPs

    Job Description

    Protecting the bank’s asset :  Conduct Physical Inspections at dealers as per the approved frequency

    • Draw inspection lists of vehicles on a Dealer's Wholesale Finance account via the Geolock system to be aware of the vehicles that require inspection at Dealers floors
    • Conduct a physical inspection of each vehicle by comparing or matching the details of the vehicle such as vin number, engine number, registration number, etc. to the details of the vehicles on the inspection list.
    • Note the condition of the vehicle on the inspection report of vehicles that are found in an unsalable condition [i.e.: vehicles scratched, dented, windscreen damaged, etc.]
    • Physically inspect vehicles that are not located on the dealer's floor and reported by the Dealer to be at a Third party premises [ i.e.: on consignment to another dealership or at service provider such as panel beater or fitment center ].
    • The Dealer must provide proof if the vehicle is at the third party by obtaining letter from the third party confirming that the vehicle is on their premises for consignment purposes and that they are aware that the vehicle/s is financed with the AVAF Wholesale Finance facility or provide a job card in a case of a service provider.
    • Verify ownership of vehicles by checking original Natis documents and compare the details of the original Natis to the actual details of the vehicle on the inspection list [ i.e.: vin no, engine number, registration number, etc.] and by checking that it is registered in the correct name [i.e.: the name of the dealership as the owner and the title holder]
    • Plan and schedule routes appropriately by checking that each visit is unexpected by the dealer, by reshuffling dates and days and submit the route plan to the office on the first day of each month. Ensure that planned routes or visits to Dealers are not be known so that effective inspections may be conducted, non-routine visits.
    • Email own route planning for the month to the Wholesale Finance Line Manager at the beginning of each month, thus enabling the Wholesale Finance office of one's whereabouts or location during the month.

    Risk Management :  Sold Vehicles

    • Verify vehicles reported "Settled" by obtaining proof of payment from the dealership e.g.: Deposit slip or copy of the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), and therefore being able to account for all vehicles on the Wholesale Finance Account
    • Having performed inspections, make a note of all vehicles that are settled and email proof of payment obtained from the dealer
    • Indicate on the inspection list the date on which a vehicle is delivered to a client by obtaining proof of a signed delivery note from the Dealer, so as to account for all vehicles on the Wholesale Finance Account.
    • Bring to the dealer's attention all vehicles outstanding on their Wholesale Finance that have already matured and vehicles about to mature in the following month
    • Ensure that proof of payment and proof of delivery is verified on all sold / delivered vehicles by indicating the date the vehicle was sold / delivered / settled on the inspection list.
    • Ensure that all sold /delivered vehicles that have passed the payment frequency period is settled prior to you leaving the dealership [ Refer to addendum for the agreed process ]
    • Back office staff must follow up on units marked as sold and ensure settlement within 72 hours from date of delivery. Non-compliance to be escalated in order to address with dealer immediately and not wait for scheduled next inspection.
    • Identify and escalate possible risk to line manager immediately
    • Report any irregularities to the regions and participate in decision making
    • DPP Facilities must strictly be adhered to

    People management :  stake holder engagement

    • Act as a liaison between the Dealers and the Wholesale Finance & Dealer Relations department by handling queries and complaints from the dealer and resolving them timeously and or forwarding it to the correct person at the Wholesale Finance office
    • Provide process and procedure training to Dealers (e.g. If an instability is detected at a dealer by an Inspector, take control of either Natis documents or Wholesale Finance Vehicles or both) with dealers who have defaulted [i.e.: not settling vehicles sold or using a Wholesale Finance vehicle for their own use, etc.], provided that it is in line with the terms and conditions of the Floorplan agreement and the Floorplan facility letter.
    • Liaise with your line manager , Provincial heads and Business Development Officers on the manner in which the dealer handles the facility
    • Discuss utilization -   Enquire on low or non- utilization and provide feedback to the business Analyst.

    Compliance and Training

    • Adhere to compliance requirements and complete all required training before due date

    Ad hoc Support

    • Provide ad hoc support where needed , this includes :
    • Additional visits to dealer upon instruction from your line manager
    • Assist with inspections in other areas when requested by your line manager.
    • Assist with attaching of keys and papers at dealerships upon instruction from your line manager.
    • Assist in attaching of vehicles from dealership upon instruction from your line manager
    • Be prepared to rotate assigned areas for audit purposes upon instruction from your line manager
    • Maturities discussions with dealer
    • Discuss utilization of facility where facilities are not being adequately used
    • Dealer leads provided – New Facilities or Facility value increases. New dealers.

    Accountability: Model development

    • Develop IFRS9 and/or Regulatory Capital models in-house through sound methodologies and statistical analysis.
    • Enhancing / refreshing existing models already in place.
    • Proficiency in SAS coding is essential.
    • Updating models to reflect latest forecasted macro-economic factors; and communicating this impact.
    • Testing that model build data is of sufficient quality and completing statistical data analysis to ensure this.
    • Producing detailed model build documentation.
    • Assisting the model implementation team through answering technical questions around the model workings (inputs to the model, calculations performed, etc.) and with testing (comparing implementation results with documented model) to ensure the model is implemented correctly
    • Develop theoretical understanding and practical application of models.
    • Ensure full governance processes for modelling are complied with from model inception and build through to validation and sign-off by completing all relevant documentation according to the Absa Model Risk Policy.     Financial Adviser AIFA: Everyday Banking (FAIS)

    Job Summary

    Key Requirements:

    • To follow the six steps of financial planning in executing the role of a FAIS licensed financial adviser. A professional introduction must be made to introduce the adviser and the services offered by the adviser. Upon client approval the adviser may conduct a Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) in the disciplines of Investment, Life Insurance and Estate planning. Based on the concluded FNA to make recommendations
    • To address single or multiple needs identified on behalf of the client. Advice recommendations will must be presented under the license categories for which the adviser is accredited Absa approved product(s) that are deemed will meet the needs of the client. On client acceptance of all or part of the advice, the adviser is required to implement the accepted advice through Absa’s new business processes.
    • The adviser must conduct regularly review of the client needs to assess continued suitability of implemented solutions. In these reviews, new needs may be addressed and changes to existing plans be proposed to ensure continued solutioning of client needs. 
    • Adviser must continue to ensure ongoing Fit and Proper status to enable them to offer services under an Absa advice license.

    Accountability: To establish and maintain a professional relationship with all stakeholders (Client, Bank personnel, product providers and Adviser Support staff)

    • Participate in reciprocal leads activities and sales/pipeline meetings to identify opportunities for new or repeat business, and fully utilising Absa’s bancassurance structure.
    • Assess client’s needs through use of recommended needs analysis tools, ensuring that the client is aware of the full value proposition offered by AIFA.
    • Prepare recommendation and quote for appropriate risk and investment solutions based on the client’s individual needs and profile.
    • Present recommendation to clients, ensuring that all FAIS regulations are followed regarding advice given.
    • Follow all the steps in the designated client engagement process as specified by Absa Advisers.
    • Provide regular feedback to the Regional Manager on actions taken to progress the lead to business.
    • Network, on an ongoing basis, with all stakeholders in Everyday Banking (PGM’s and Regional Managers) and elsewhere by attending their meetings and social gatherings to position the Absa Advisers' value proposition to the Bank and to the clients

    Accountability: Meet sales and/or growth targets

    • Do activity planning by identifying the clients to be approached/contacted during a particular period in conjunction with Everyday Advice Executive.
    • Using the leads information provided by the source and or Regional Manager listings, as well as leads sourced through own prospecting activities and determine the client's financial needs.
    • Make exclusive use of Absa’s Financial Needs Analysis tool (Avalon from Aug 2024 onwards) to conduct a comprehensive Financial Needs Analysis for the client.
    • Obtain the client's consent to access his/her existing policy information by getting him/her to sign the relevant documents to get a comprehensive view of the client's financial needs.
    • Discuss various possible solutions and options available with the client and thereafter recommend the most appropriate products and or solution(s) to address financial needs.
    • Generate and discuss a formal recommendation including product quote(s) for the client.
    • On acceptance of part or all the advice recommendations, complete the necessary product application forms and ensure that the client signs the forms to indicate his/her consent to engage in a transaction(s).
    • Gather, generate, and complete all the necessary compliance documentation (e.g., Client Advice Record, copy of ID, Financial Needs Analysis, FICA).
    • Submit the proposal forms to the relevant product providers for processing.
    • Ensure that the issued policy aligns to the recommended product.
    • Review the client's portfolio at a minimum of once a year and contact the client based on the adviser and client agreed contact strategy to maintain a healthy client relationship.
    • Provide a report back to the Regional Manager and Everyday Banking stakeholders on the strike rate (i.e., the number of leads provided that were converted to business) where applicable.
    • Seek business opportunities from external sources as necessary to grow the book of business and reciprocate leads to Regional Managers and PGM’s.

    Accountability: Manage own commission earnings

    • Capture the correct Policy Relevant Information (PRI) number on the Commission system.
    • On a monthly basis, check the accuracy of the commission statements received from the Broker Commissions department.
    • Verify that all the PRI numbers reconcile to the commission paid and reflected on the statements Keep the client database up to date by ensuring that new clients are added to the database.
    • Follow up on unpaid premiums and lapses by contacting the clients to establish the reasons for the problems Manage the suspense account timeously by clearing it on the system at month end.

    Accountability: Practice Management

    • Ensure that staff members (Adviser Assistants) have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities within the adviser practice.
    • Arrange for staff members to receive the relevant training (Absa programs for the Interns) e.g., systems training, product training and operational training.
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to assistant(s) with regards to facilitate knowledge and skills development.
    • Participate performance development (PD) discussions as required by the Absa performance management standards.
    • Take the necessary corrective actions in cases of underperformance in consultation with the Regional Manager. Implement controls with regards to compliant record keeping in accordance with minimum Absa business standards (i.e. FAIS, FICA, FSB and)
    • Liaise with Provincial Operations Office) with regards to maintenance of systems and equipment and provision of other services
    • Complete all the required compliance exams in the specified timeframes (e.g. Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions, BCM, Basic Financial Crime Concepts).
    • Remain fit and proper as required for FAIS flagged roles.
    • Provide monthly feedback to the branch, and Business Bank, regarding non-interest income (seat costs) and cross-selling opportunities
    • Segment the client base according to profile, income potential and commission income.
    • Engage with business development strategies with the support of the Regional Manager and our practice management subject matter experts to maximise the sustainability of the adviser practice.

    Accountability: Personal Development

    • Attend all the required training to attain accreditation to market Absa approved products.
    • Attend all the requisite internal training (i.e FAIS-related programs/courses).
    • Attain the required FAIS credits in order to attain Fit and Proper status
    • Ensure that Fit and Proper status is maintained (honesty, integrity, financial solvency)
