    Sales Engineer - Beverage and Filling Technologies

    Responsibilities / Tasks

    • Customer facing - Beverage and Filling sales across the region focusing on the Beverage Technology portfolio.
    • Region: South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia, Malawi, Angola, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Comores, Seychells, Mauritius, Madagascar and Reunion
    • Plan and carry out direct marketing and sales activities in conjunction with agreed budgets (Order intake, Sales, Gross Margins)

    • Proven superior skills in international negotiation & contracting with customers in countries across the world
    • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles
    • Language requirements: English
    • Extensive traveling required for the role

    Technical and Service Sales Specialist

    Responsibilities / Tasks

    • Drive Service Sales activities for the Beverage and Filling industries
    • Reviewing RFQs and clarifying customer requirements
    • Prioritize initiatives, through close engagement with peers & Head of LPT Service
    • Develop, implement and utilize Service Sales tools – I-Base and CRM and other tools currently under development
    • Assist with technical queries from branches and customers
    • Operate in partnership with new equipment / project sales teams to identify “up-sell” and “cross-sell” opportunities, to maximize revenue and improve overall customer experience.
    • Effect sales of GEA LPT equipment services for GEA Africa; representing the company in a professional manner in the fields of spare parts, repairs and field service
    • Travel to potential and existing customers (iBase) - securing additional orders / agreements for spare parts, repairs, service projects, and field service.  The customer visits shall include necessary presentations / demonstrations as required to enhance the sales opportunity and promote GEA.  These visits need to be planned on CRM and minutes included.
    • Actively promote smaller scale projects (Upgrades / Modernization)
    • Assist with large project spare parts / repair orders – provide quotes, follow up and ensure the sale is executed in a timely manner.
    • Participate in the negotiation of offers, quotations, and contracts (T&Cs)
    • Self-starter to complete tasks in a timeous manner.

    Your Profile / Qualifications

    • Technical or commercial qualification
    • Min 5 years’ experience in technical sales role
    • Sound knowledge pumps, valves, and liquid processes
    • Fluent in the English Language (Speak, Read, and Write)

    Head of Procurement (f/m/d)

    Responsibilities / Tasks

    Definition of Strategies & Procedures

    • Responsible for the development, implementation and on-going management of the Procurement Strategy for GEA Africa to influence legal compliance of procurement policy and supporting legislation across the institution and to generate value for money for GEA Africa
    • Develop excellent and effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and external providers to ensure strategic and operational needs are fully understood and incorporated
    • Lead the development and implementation of procurement policies and system strategies to support tendering, contracts management, spend analytics and supplier performance management
    • Drive continuous improvement, best value and quality improvements within the team and departments in challenging existing practices and actively seek ways to achieve better outcomes, contributing to ensure key performance and financial targets are met and corrective action taken where necessary
    • Derive, plan and communicate individual impact of cost optimization initiatives along with company’s budget and forecast process
    • Maintain and enforce procedures to support the procurement and supply chain strategy

    Implementation of Strategies

    • Develop long term relationships and agreements with suppliers, representing GEA Africa towards key suppliers in terms of all relevant aspects, if required together with other functions
    • Continuously work on decreasing the supplier base where duplicated while increasing competition of suppliers and utilization of preferred suppliers e.g. based on GEA Group references
    • Continuously benchmarking key supplier prices and conditions versus local and international market conditions and competitiveness
    • Negotiate and sign off major contracts and agreements with suppliers filing of all contracts
    • Develop local general terms of purchasing and establish those as minimum standards for business with suppliers
    • Implement process standards according to the procurement handbook
    • Coordinate actively the optimization of non-product related spend together with other parts of GEA Group represented in South Africa (National Procurement

    Management, Coordination and Control

    • Taking full accountability of the strategic part of the procurement function and the improvements associated incl. annual price negotiations for major commodities
    • Initial support with the allocation of tactical procurement functions
    • Audit of procurement procedures: Ensure the procurement procedures are followed through regular reviews and improvement workshops
    • Assisting and coordinating with major supplier claims i.e. as part of an escalation process
    • Parts Database management: Educate responsible functions to ensure that correct protocol is used when creating parts and database on parts and suppliers are maintained; make deviations transparent consequently
    • Price Database management: Ensure that only authorized personnel maintains or modifies purchase price information in ERP; ensure that preferable supplier/prices are used by all buyers through information and follow-up e.g. based on spend reporting

    Operational

    • Coordinates all cross-functional activities related to strategic procurement
    • Promote importance of procurement across the organisation and best practice through continuous improvement
    • Analyse raw material price, fx-rate, freight rate developments to ensure best fit of supply chain
    • Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodity as part of strategic sourcing exercises or annual commodity reviews
    • Advises company functions on the appropriate supplier to be used and on how to reduce total cost e.g. by minimizing expediting fees
    • Assures that the suppliers adhere to agreed-upon schedule, price and quality

    Procurement Department

    • Lead the creation of new supply chain structure to support/deliver operational requirements and meet procurement strategies
    • Staff development: Conduct Staff fit analyses
    • Identify and address procurement training needs across GEA Africa for individual and organizational development.

    Your Profile / Qualifications

    The function should:

    Service Project Engineer

    A vacancy for a HRT Service Project Engineer has become available at our Durban office.

    • We require an accountable and self-driven individual who will assume the responsibility for sales, control and project management of Service Projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.     Responsibilities / Tasks

    • Formalize a detailed proposal based on the client’s requirements, best practices & providing a well-engineered solution
    • Conduct project Sales i.e. meeting with clients, establishing their requirements, developing a solution, costing the engineering scope, developing proposals, presentations, etc. and then presenting & negotiating the proposal with the client(s).
    • Review solution and engineering for SANS compliance, engineering principles, GEA standards, client contract requirements and related specifications.
    • Conduct and arrange plant surveys to establish current installed equipment and to identify areas of improvement
    • Promote the GEA brand and values.
    • Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables, engineering, operating & maintenance documents.
    • Plan and implement a project program, including defining the project philosophy, activities, milestones, and resource requirements, as per the project & client requirement.
    • Evaluate engineering changes, specifications and drawing releases and update accordingly with the drawing and technical department.
    • Controlling external contractors in order to fulfill the task at a client site taking all Health & Safety specifications into account.
    • Keep track of ETA’s, equipment delivered, and material required in order to meet deadlines.
    • Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design, operating, and maintenance documents based on sales contract
    • Monitor quality of work carried out on site and ensure quality assurance of external contractors.
    • Prepare project completion documentation as hand over for client acceptance.
    • Ensure that pre-start up documentation and commissioning reports are completed by commissioning staff.
    • Monitor and report on sales & project statistics.
    • Follow up and ensure that the invoicing and administrative closing of projects are completed.
    • Ensure that commissioning is done to GEA standards and within the performance requirement as per the sales contract.
    • Identify additional business opportunities

    Your Profile / Qualifications

    • Candidate is likely to have earned a qualification in the Mechanical Engineering field (Diploma or Degree) with refrigeration (preferably) and thermodynamics (Compulsory) and/or the candidate should have extensive knowledge and expertise from working in the refrigeration industry
    • Strong understanding of the refrigeration process and the associated engineering (Especially the ammonia refrigeration process)
    • It would be to the candidate’s advantage if s/he has experience and qualifications in engineering sales & project execution and the successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with a minimum work experience of 5-years in project sales and/or execution.
    • Ability to select equipment and to do basic design checks to ensure that solutions proposed to clients will perform as required.
    • Ability to read an electrical wiring diagram and a mechanical drawing
    • A strong knowledge of the OHS Act and experience with site safety files
    • Strong computer and communication skills (Microsoft excel, Microsoft project etc)
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Ability to formalise detailed business letters and documents
    • Must be willing to travel nationally, cross border and work after normal business hours, if and when the work on hand require this.
    • Must be self-driven and have the initiative to explore different avenues to get tasks completed.
