    Risk Man (KZN)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate risk, evaluate loss potential, and make recommendations for risk improvements where necessary.
    • Provide surveys in South Africa. Ensure that surveys are carried out timeously and professionally (within agreed times). Accountability is limited to carrying out surveys for all risks with a sum insured of R20 Million and less.
    • Provide complete and professional written reports for Underwriters to have a clear picture of all the risks involved.
    • Complete survey reporting within acceptable time frames.
    • Manage relationships and interact frequently with colleagues, brokers, and the insured in a professional manner.
    • Provide feedback on activities undertaken to Central Co-ordinator on daily activities.
    • Record keeping being always kept up to date.
    • Continuously build and manage the relationship between Risk consultants & Branch and Broker network.

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • Valid Motor Bike’s license

    Educational Requirements

    • Matric
    • Fire Qualification/Fire Diploma/Fire Engineering advantageous

    Risk Consultant (Bloem)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate risk, evaluate loss potential, make requirements / recommendations for risk improvements where necessary and advise Hollard Insure on whether to participate or come off risk
    • Carry out surveys timeously and professionally (within agreed times)
    • Provide complete and professional ARQ reports in order for Underwriters to have a clear picture of all the risks involved
    • Stakeholder management: - Take ownership of queries and offer possible solutions to the various stakeholders / clients and ensure all are resolved and feedback given to relevant parties
    • Continuously build and manage the relationship between Risk consultants & Branch and broker network

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • 3 years’ experience in building fire prevention / fire safety
    • Experience within surveying Insurance risks is advantageous

    Educational Requirements

    • Matric
    • Graduate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers or a Fire Engineering National Diploma or a National Safety Diploma or the CFPA Diploma in Fire Prevention

    Underwriter - Pietermaritzburg

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and standard operating procedures:
    • Assess new business risk in accordance with business underwriting
    • New business acceptance and declinature of risk
    • Providing technical underwriting expertise on underwriting referrals
    • Re- Insurance referrals placements
    • To act within the agreed mandate in terms of discount, acceptance of risk
    • Endorsements, renewals, multi claimants, refunds and day to day queries
    • Take ownership of queries and provide feedback to clients, internal and external stakeholders timeously
    • Follow the company standard operating procedures on all risk management processes
    • Ensure that protocol is followed in terms of regulatory requirements and necessary disclosures to be made (TCF)
    • Escalate queries or deviations from SOP to relevant manager
    • Act within mandate from the relevant manager in terms of acceptance and rejection of risk
    • Ensure that correct policy documents are sent to the clients
    • Delivering reliable underwriting support and customer service to the various claims departments and improving the overall customer experience
    • Establish and nature relationship with brokers, BDC’s and other stake holders
    • Identifying problems encountered by clients and proposing medium and long term resolutions
    • Proposing new ways to improve technical functionality to facilitate service to meet SLA Foster and encourage team player within the team

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • Underwriting knowledge and experience minimum of 3-5
    • Basic knowledge and experience in using the Ikundu systems
    • Understanding of insurance principles and knowledge

    Actuarial Analyst - Valuations (Cape Town)

    KEY OUTPUTS: 

    The role is multi-disciplinary with the following key deliverables:

    • Produce accurate and timeous provision of monthly and quarterly actuarial reporting to Management and Hollard 
    • Central Actuarial, such as reserves, embedded values (and Total Value Add) of new and existing business, analysis 
    • of surplus and experience investigations
    • Produce mortality, morbidity and expense investigations
    • Collect, clean and develop database solutions to ensure data is correct and used effectively
    • Assist with assumptions used for relevant calculations to HGR Exco Head: Actuarial
    • Provide business insights to HGR Exco through actuarial reporting
    • Assist in internal and external auditor queries where actuarial input required
    • Ensure effective communication and relationship with all relevant stakeholders
    • Assist with technical queries related to the area
    • Produce annual budgets, forecasting and ongoing monitoring of experience where required
    • Manage adhoc tasks and duties to enable and improve own deliverables and tasks as well as to manage stakeholder  expectations 
    • Ensure that all actuarial processes are performed as efficiently as possible and are compliant with the current risk 
    • control and actuarial governance procedures.

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • Actuarial degree with exam progress
    • 2 years of work experience, preferably in actuarial reporting/valuations in Group Insurance
    • Good technical experience essential
    • Planning and organising skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Excellent computer skills (preferably Excel and SQL)

    Data Analyst - Cape Town and Durban

    Key Outputs:

    The role is multi-disciplinary with the following key deliverables:

     

    • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations relevant to the group insurance industry
    • Extract meaningful insights to guide business strategies and decision-making processes
    • Collaborate with the actuarial team to enhance pricing models and optimise risk management strategies
    • Design and develop predictive models to assess risk, triage claims and detect fraud
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including actuarial, underwriting, and IT to best utilise data, implement 
    • models and management reporting
    • Create visually compelling dashboards and reports to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders
    • Work closely with business units to understand their requirements and translate them into actionable visualisations
    • Develop and maintain appropriate tools for monitoring business performance
    • Effectively communicate technical, complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
    • Stay updated on the latest advancements in data science to continuously improve models and dashboards
    • Support on strategic business initiatives as determined by Hollard Group Risk’s business strategy

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    Educational Requirements

    • Degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related discipline
    • 3 years’ experience in a data science/analytics role
    • Group insurance knowledge advantageous
    • Proficient in Excel and programing languages such as R and SQL
    • Advanced knowledge of data visualisation tools, preferably PowerBI
    • Knowledge of statistical modeling, and data manipulation techniques
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Self-starter
