Driver Trainer - Bloemfontein at Volvo Trucks

The main purpose of the job is to conduct driver training Courses to ensure that vehicles are utilized optimally and to address fuel consumption queries.

Reporting: This position will report to the Driver Trainer Manager

Job Objectives

• To develop and customize training courses with new product information, and maintain Course Material to ensure that it remain current.
• To facilitate driver training courses, on the Volvo product range.
• Responsible to ensure that training materials/equipment (lecture rooms and vehicles) are ready and available, before commencement of the course.
• To conduct assessments (practical and theoretical tests on students) in line with requirements.
• Responsible to ensure effective and efficient Administration on training documentation (attendance registers, feedback reports – student and trainer).
• To compile and submit all training–related reports within a given timeframe and make suggestions on further training needs where applicable.
• Be able to demonstrate to trainees how best to handle vehicles under different conditions.
• To address fuel consumption queries practically, by achieving above average results.
• To handle queries from drivers.
• To handle “briefings” or VHO whenever required.
• To handle all Demo vehicles as per request.
   

Education & Job Experience

• Matric or Grade 12.
• Valid EC License and PDP.
• Registered Assessor (advantageous).
• Certificate in ETD or related field (outcomes based education; training facilitation skills, assessment) (an advantage).
• Be able to speak at least two African languages in addition to English and Afrikaans.
• Minimum four years driving experience in long haulage.
• Minimum two years’ experience in conducting full driver training courses.

Job Knowledge & Skills

• Oral and written communication skills (essential) Communicate fluently from middle management downwards.
• Ability to communicate in English and Afrikaans is essential. Ability to speak an African language is an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Presentation skills.
• Excellent driving skills on commercial vehicles (essential).
• Computer literacy (MS Office: MS Word & PP – Intermediate).
• Maintain discipline, and provide direction.
