    Enrolled Nursing Assistant

    THINK is looking for a qualified Enrolled Nursing Assistant to support the implementation of the THINK USAID TB LON project in KwaZulu Natal Districts. The aim of the project is to safeguard advances of TB treatment by strengthening the TB health care platform in the district. The Enrolled Nursing Assistant will be based in KwaZulu-Natal Province (Amajuba) and report to the THINK Professional Nurse Mentor-TB.

    Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Provide Support services to DOH TB facility staff
    • Record all presumptive TB in the TB identification register and send for TB investigations.
    • Increase and create demand for facility -based TB, STI, NCD and COVD19 screening and testing services during checking of vital signs.
    • Work hand in hand with TB facility health care workers in linking clients who have tested positive for TB, including recording in the register and linking to Tier.net or EDRWeb. Support health workers with household contract tracing
    • Support of TPT implementation for eligible contacts including children under 5
    • Request monthly lists of clients that need repeat scripts for TPT and refer for treatment.
    • Support tracing of all immediate lost to follow up (ILTF) and lost to follow up TB clients by liaising with DOH outreach teams
    • Support that all TB presumptive /diagnosed clients have been tested for HIV – if not make note to test them on their next visits.
    • Action GXP DS/Rif alert line list weekly
    • Action Tier.net line list weekly
    • Provide adherence counselling to identified clients who require enhanced adherence counselling
    • Conduct health education to clients on TB and HIV treatment adherence, cough etiquette, monitoring and treatment side effects.
    • Provide health education to clients on TB, TB screening, TB/HIV co-infections, infection control, adherence and other services to facilitate referrals.
    • Check and update TB identification registers and send them to be captured on Tier.net
    • Review TB registers, EDRWeb and TIER.NET to check on those initiated into treatment, ensuring that they receive follow up-services.
    • Compile a list of those not yet initiated, with their contact details for follow-up and referrals to WBOTS and relevant NGOs.
    • Support Continuous Quality Improvement activities
    • Submit reports (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) on programme indicators and progress.
    • Support the clinical file audit periodically
    • Participate in data clean-up at facility
    • Assist with Monitoring and Evaluation activities for the TB/DRTB, HIV and NCDs program
    • Participate in all relevant meetings e.g., Facility staff meetings, district meetings, programme meetings.
    • Participate in community dialogues and community awareness campaigns
    • Work with the TB team to improve the quality of care, retention in care and adherence to treatment for TB patients.
    • Self-updating on DOH guidelines, policies and SOPs available on project share point platform
    • Perform other related duties as required for effective implementation of the USAID Project
    • Capacity building through attending appropriate training programmes

     Requirements:

    • Grade 12 - Matric Certificate
    • Enrolled Nursing Assistant Certificate with current SANC registration
    • A minimum of 1 year working within TB/HIV programmes 
    • TB & HIV screening and testing services; tracing and linkage coupled with basic TB, HIV and adherence HIV/TB environment (as an added advantage)
    • Basic TB Management certificate (added advantage)
    • Basic computer skills (added advantage)
    • Additional Health related courses (advantageous)

    Professional Nurse NIMDR

    THINK is looking for qualified Professional Nurse (NIMDR) to support the implementation of the THINK USAID TB LON project in KwaZulu Natal Districts. The aim of the project is to safeguard advances of TB treatment by strengthening the TB health care platform in the district. The NIMDR Nurse will be based in KwaZulu-Natal Province (Amajuba) and report to the TB Technical Lead.

    • Develop a long-term strategy to address the DRTB mentoring needs at the designated facilities  
    • Assist health facility teams in the development of clinical standards and procedures for DRTB services 
    • Support the integration of TB, HIV and NCDs aligned to PHC reengineering, ICSM and ideal clinic strategies 
    • Conduct and facilitate training related to DRTB, HIV and NCDs management, both clinical and managerial with the intension of improving TB treatment outcomes in the designated facilities 
    • Participate in other project management activities as the needs of the programme evolves 
    • Alignment of Project objectives with THINK Strategic intent 
    • Alignment with funder expectations and requirements 
    • Remain up to date with current DoH DR TB Guidelines and policies and ensure accurate dissemination of this information to facilities through training and ongoing mentoring 
    • Develop a mentoring plan to provide mentoring and technical assistance in the implementation and operationalization of the projects DRTB, HIV and NCDs interventions at health facility level 
    • Conduct situational analysis at allocated facilities to understand operational context of the facility.   
    • Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement plans 
    • Establish and strengthen cluster review meetings 
    • Participate in facility meetings 
    • Previous work experience in NGOs or funded programmes will be an advantage. 
    • Knowledge of HIV strategies, including the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets, and TB management. 
    • Provide guidance and technical support on DR-TB,  and TB/HIV prevention, and treatment in line Collaborate with staff in facilities in activities related to 
    • Contact tracing of patients 
    • Alerting facilities of patients who have missed appointments 
    • Support the implementation of TB/HIV integration. 
    • Promoting infection prevention and control, including dissemination of infection control materials 
    • Conducting training and ongoing mentoring on DR-TB.  
    • Organize, attend and facilitate such workshops in liaison with other clinical teams. 
    • Support and mentor adherence counselling provision for patients on treatment across all facilities supported. 
    • Support and mentor the monitoring and reporting of adverse drug events for Second line TB medicines (ADSM). 
    • Ongoing capacity building for different cadres of health care workers on clinical management, infection control and ethics. 
    • Support implementation of EDR Web. 
    • Monitor and support project staff placed at facility and district level. 
    • Lead in baseline facility assessments. 
    • Support and mentor the implementation of latest TPT guidelines 
    • To assist and support with other duties as needed by the district (including DR TB Hotline coordination) 
    • Establish and/or strengthen regular in-facility and cluster data review meetings 
    • Support and participate in regular data clean up activities  
    • Collaborate with TB Nurse mentor for clinical chart audits 
    • Monitor availability and correct completion of DR TB stationary 
    • Regularly evaluate and analyse the progress, successes, and challenges with clients initiated on treatment, as part of Continuous Quality Improvement 
    • Submit reports (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) on programme indicators and progress.  
    • Perform quality checks on MDR-TB register/EDR web generated data in collaboration with data clerks 
    • Assist with Monitoring and Evaluation activities for the TB/DRTB, HIV and NCDs program 
    • Meet regularly with the program advisors and supervisor for effective programme implementation. 
    • Liaising with DOH district staff on procedures for diagnosis and treatment for DR-TB patients 
    • Initiating and sustaining linkages with health facilities and relevant NGOs 
    • Provide services to the surrounding communities 
    • Continuous engagement with district information officers and TB Clinical Leads 
    • Attend quarterly DRTB Technical Advisory Group Meetings 
    • Self-updating on DOH guidelines, policies and SOPs available on project share point platform  
    • Capacity building through attending appropriate training programmes

    Requirements:

    • Degree or diploma in Nursing, registration with SANC

    Data Clerk

    THINK is looking for a qualified Data Clerk to support the implementation of the THINK ADAPT project in eThekwini

    Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Ensuring that health information systems (HIS) e.g., TIER.Net and EDR Web data completeness, consistency, accuracy and timeliness of reported data are maintained
    • Provide additional back capturing data support to ensure no data backlogs
    • Provide additional support with filing of TB patients’ clinical stationery
    • Work with clinical teams within healthcare facilities to ensure quality TB data reporting
    • Conduct routine data quality assessments (RDQA’s) on TB data across supported facilities
    • Assist with the data input process to ensure data quality criteria are adhered
    • Review of routine HIS data with THINK clinical mentors to identify areas of data reporting challenges
    • Maintain a weekly portfolio of evidence (POE) of all HIS generated reports
    • Report to the data quality mentors (DQMs) regarding data quality challenges
    • Work closely with healthcare facility staff including DoH data capture to resolve data queries
    • Continued internal stakeholder engagements with M&E district supporting staff (DQM, M&E district coordinator)
    • Capacity building through attending HIS system trainings
    • Comply with all THINK rules and regulations and policies and procedures

    • Perform other duties as required

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 - Matric Certificate
    • An appropriate qualification in health science or certificate in M&E would be an advantage
    • 1-3 years’ experience as a M&E Data Clerk (monitor) or capture
    • Clear criminal record
    • Previous work experience in a similar environment.
