    Nurse Clinician (VMMC CQI Clinician)

    Purpose of the position:

    The Nurse Clinician will provide Continuous Quality Improvement for VMMC in 5 regions of correctional centres. They will provide technical support, clinical mentoring and perform quality assurance for all VMMC activities within the Correctional Services Programme.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Relevant Professional Nursing Qualification with Diploma in Nursing or BCUR Degree
    • Diploma in Primary Health Care
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in providing VMMC Continuous Quality Improvement.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in nursing after registration with 2 years being in a supervisory role
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse
    • Good understanding of TB, HIV and MMC programme
    • Dispensing licence
    • Proficiency in English & any other African language
    • Valid code 8 driver’s licence and own transport
    • Ability and willingness to travel across various regions
    • Clear criminal record

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Conduct weekly CQI assessments at all THC VMMC Sites, generate CQI gap analysis reports and assist sites to develop Quality Improvement Plans
    • Serve as a provincial resource to support the efficient, high quality implementation of PEPFAR/CDC funded VMMC services in alignment with global, national, and donor guidelines and standards
    • Champion VMMC quality, safety, risk management, data use, and data transparency among VMMC service providers, DCS Clinicians, municipal, district, and provincial government stakeholders
    • Support VMMC service providers to perform continuous quality improvement (CQI) with paper-based and digital instruments
    • Document and provide technical support to service providers as they analyse factors contributing to quality gaps identified through CQI and QA processes and outline corrective action plans, in consultation with VMMC Programme Coordinator Regional Coordinators and M&E Lead as appropriate
    • Participate in site visit support and identification of training needs
    • Compile and submit a monthly report, quarterly and annual reports
    • Support mentoring of all TBHIV Care staff, VMMC service providers and CSP staff

    Social Auxiliary Worker, PPPREV_eThekwini

    Purpose of the position: 

    This post will provide psychosocial services under the supervision of a social worker within the context of an HIV Priority Populations Prevention programme focusing on adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and Adolescent boys and young men (ABYM). 

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent  
    • Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work from a recognized college or institution
    • Two years training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience
    • Must be registered with SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions)
    • Proficiency in English and isiZulu languages
    • Computer literate in MS office advantageous
    • Clear criminal record

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Conducts comprehensive psycho-social assessments of AGYW and their families  
    • Conducts House hold profiling using profiling tools 
    • Provide minimum package of community-based care and refer to social worker /facility for continuum of care 
    • Supports Social Workers in assessing the needs of AGYW & ABYM and parent’s/care givers and guardians 
    • Provides structural programmes including SASA  
    • Networks with all relevant stakeholders  
    • Assists with the identification of advocacy issues

    • Provides referrals according to AGYW & ABYM needs to social worker and other external networks

    Purpose of the position:

    To provide a professional and effective administrative and reception service to managers, staff of TB HIV Care and external stakeholders.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Degree/Diploma in Office Management/ Bookkeeping/Human resource management;
    • 2 years admin/office management experience.
    • Computer literate (MS Office)
    • Valid code 8 driver’s license and own vehicle 

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Welcome all visitors politely, promptly and professionally as they arrive at the office
    • Confirm appointments and inform relevant staff member of their arrival
    • Direct visitor to relevant person when necessary
    • Direct calls to relevant staff member
    • Ensure that relevant staff members receive their messages promptly
    • Ensure that the reception area is always neat, presentable and welcoming at all times
    • Attend staff and team meetings
    • Prepare boardroom and take minutes for meetings
    • Circulate meeting minutes in an efficient and timeously manner.
    • Type up documents, collate and distribute when required in a proficient and professional manner.
    • Ensure there’s a printed copy of staff register at reception to be signed on a daily basis by staff.
    • Before any items can be bought, there’s a need to get 3 quotes before approval can be given to purchase anything.
    • Ensure that all equipment in the reception area is kept in good working order and maintained serviced when required.
    • Ensure that all materials are kept in the correct storage place, and that there is sufficient stock of all materials.
    • Ensure that all staff complete acknowledgement of receipt form for assets taken.
    • Ensure that staff return assets when they resign
    • Inspect vehicles monthly and compile monthly reports.
    • Conduct petty cash analysis and reconcile and submit to Site Coordinator firstly for approval/review before submission to Finance by end of each week.

    Case Officer - Amathole

    Purpose of the position:

    Responsible for implementing and monitoring the Case Management Model (CMM) through adherence support for ART patients until they are eligible for decanting to any of the differentiated models of care.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Enrolled nurse qualification will be an added advantage (most suitable for pediatric streams)
    • Able to communicate in English and isiXhosa is an advantage
    • At least two (2) years’ relevant experience in counselling and testing
    • Adherence counselling
    • Basic HIV testing and counselling Index case training
    • Proficiency in MS Office

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Capture details of clients on ART for less than one year and newly initiated patients on ART on the CMM excel spreadsheet, and plot all due appointments
    • Capture clients with high viral loads, pediatric clients, pre-ART clients and pregnant women
    • Phone clients and conducts daily linkage to a CHW or any appropriate community person for those who missed their appointment; pay a visit to clients who missed their appointments, patients who are not virally suppressed, and patients needing additional care
    • Issue routine reminders according to the schedule of appointments by sending SMS reminders
    • Responding to messages from clients and crafting an appropriate and professional response
    • Refer patients for enrolment in support groups according to the patient’s preference
