This position is responsible for the implementation and management of BIM platforms throughout the region. Managing the BIM platform project folders for various projects. Responsible for creating BIM execution plans for various projects/ clients (if client specific). Standardisation of StefStocks BIM standards (title blocks, templates etc). Responsible for coordination of the BIM model between various consultants and stakeholders. Managing the implementation of live 3D modelling across all projects from project commencement through to as built information handover to end user/client.  Leading the company digital progression by means of researching and implementing of new digital tools.  Upskilling staff on digital tools.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
• At least 3 years’ experience in construction building or civil works field
• Experience in Navisworks / similar Coordination software and 3D Modelling.
• Experience in the utilisation of BIM360

Knowledge and Skills

• Understanding of Architectural, Structural and MEP 3D Modelling
• Knowledge of basic construction processes and procedures
• Knowledge of Construction Standards related to Quality Management
• Knowledge and understanding of Coordinate systems in BIM
• Experience in creating and interpreting technical engineering drawings
• Ability to distribute and co-ordinate information as well as manage cloud-based construction management platform such as BIM 360, ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud) or Procore.
• Advanced Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Windows Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
• Highly computer literate in Navisworks/similar construction software.
• Construction Standards related to Quality Management.
• Strong communication abilities to be able to distribute and co-ordinate information via online BIM platforms
• Able to do 3D modelling of building, civil and MEP elements. High quality drawing skills

Description

• Acquisition of Tender documents, Analysis of tenders, Site Inspections, Pricing of BOQ’s using CCS.
• Prepare and maintain worksheets in a “tender-master” and adjust these in relation to the specific tender.
• Review bills of quantities, drawings and specifications for correctness and completeness.
• Prepare Bid submission documents to ensure bid compliance.
• Review and analyse estimated vs actual costs.
• Provide training and support to Estimators.
• Participate in client interviews and attend business development functions.
• Liaise with clients and advise them on any commercial issues that arise, ensure all viable options are considered.
• Assist in the preparation of contractual correspondence.
• Track actual field productivity rates to create accurate unit costs for estimating department use.
• Negotiation of Subcontractor / supplier quotes to obtain best prices and terms.
• Accurate and comprehensive maintenance of all contractual, commercial and financial documentation.

Requirements

• BSC Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying
• Minimum 10 years’ experience with direct involvement in Civils project.
• 10 – 15 years’ experience as a Civils Estimator
• Translate tender specifications into practical understanding.
• Superior knowledge of Civil Construction productivities.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively use CCS
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Good interpersonal and time management skills.

Description

The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years’ experience. The candidate must have experience in High Voltage substations at Transmission level as well as Distribution level, inclusive of the protection, telecontrol, metering and control systems, executed under the Eskom Self-build agreement. Experience in Medium voltage switchgear systems, as well as a sound knowledge of overhead lines as well as medium voltage reticulation networks. Experience in managing the Eskom design procedure will also be required. The incumbent would be exposed to Wind, Solar and Battery Energy Storage systems within the Renewable Energy space.

Requirements

Skills, Experience and Education;

• Bachelor’s degree/National Diploma in electrical (Heavy Current) Engineering (NQF level 7 recognized qualification by SAQA);
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering within the build environment, with a focus on renewable energy;
• Registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) as P.R. Eng or P.R. Eng  Technologist is preferable;
• Proficiency in the 6 stages of engineering (Report stage, Preliminary design stage, Design and tender stage, Working drawings, Construction stage, Targeted procurement);
• Strong knowledge of contracts negotiation and management;
• OHS Act regulations, facilities management, financial, project management, and engineering procurement practices;
• Familiarity with relevant SANS standards in the engineering space;
• Experience in cost analysis, stakeholder relationship management, project cost engineering, and construction management;
• Willingness to travel
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, CAD, and other relevant software;
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
• Strong problem-solving skills and big-picture thinking.

Key Duties and Responsibilities;

• Conduct detailed site audits and assessments;
• Utilize CAD software (proficient in Autodesk and Revit) for detailed design and drafting;
• Develop budgets, Bill of Quantities (BOQs), and cost reports;
• Draft comprehensive technical reports for executive committees;
• Manage and lead staff effectively;
• Oversee and execute projects from concept design to completion;
• Manage multiple projects across the country, ensuring on-time and within budget delivery;
• Implement contracts within budget constraints;
• Maintain accurate records of contract awards and cancellations;
• Prepare close-out project reports and ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Provide leadership, technical direction, and guidance to project teams.
