    Data Scientist

    Key Purpose

    • A highly skilled Senior Data Scientist who will provide the technical expertise to develop and integrate natural language processing (NLP), advanced large language models (LLMs), voice and image models to deliver business value leveraging generative AI.  These innovative capabilities will enable unstructured autonomous decision-making processes, increase operational efficiency, and deliver personalized customer experiences.
    • This Data Scientist needs to remain abreast of the latest AI models and be experienced enough to work independently in researching and selecting the most optimal model and implementing this successfully within the business context.

    Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to

    • Project Delivery: By collaborating with contents specialists, data engineers and system architects, drive the deployment of solutions and delivery of projects from inception through to business adoption.
    • Model Development and Integration: Deploy robust and scalable LLMs that are integrated into AI frameworks, enhancing natural language processing capabilities.
    • Advanced Data Retrieval Integration: Incorporate techniques like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and semantic searches to improve precision and relevance in data extraction from large datasets.
    • Automation Workflows: Design and implement automation workflows that improve speed and accuracy of processes, reducing manual intervention and operational costs.
    • Performance Metrics and System Maintenance: Develop performance metrics to consistently evaluate the efficiency and accuracy of AI models. Actively monitor and maintain these systems to ensure they remain effective and adaptable.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all AI models and data handling practices comply with relevant laws and ethical guidelines, preparing documentation and reports as required for regulatory bodies.
    • Experimentation: Prototype ML systems and AI concepts, particularly those using NLP and LLMs, and evaluate the effects of different models and techniques on AI performance.
    • Future Trends and Industry Insights: Continuously monitor advancements in AI and LLM technologies and review relevant academic literature and industry releases to ensure our strategies and implementations align with the latest innovations and standards.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • SQL and working with databases.
    • Python for data science and machine learning.
    • Competent with TensorFlow, PyTorch, NLP and LLM packages – Advantageous
    • Familiarity with Azure services – Advantageous

    Education and Experience

    Education:

    • Matric (Essential)
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial engineering, Applied Mathematics, or similar quantitative field.
    • Honours or Master's Degree in relevant field. 

     Minimum Experience:             

    • At least 5 years proven experience in a data science environment.
    • Proven track record in implementing ML workflows at scale, particularly using LLMs.
    • Proven track record in handling, analyzing, and extracting insights from large and complex datasets, particularly unstructured text data.
    • Previous experience tuning open source and proprietary large language models – Advantageous
    • Previous experience with Voice and Image models – Advantageous

    Query Analyst

    Key Purpose

    • Primarily handling Problem Incidents on the SNOW(Service Now) system raised by the Problem Management team (though may encompass other channels such as email or face to face interaction) by using knowledge of Discovery Health products, rules and systems to determine the validity of the reported issue. To facilitate this, the use and/or creation of ad hoc SQL / PLSQL reports to identify scope and risk of correctly reported problems is required. If issue is not a training issue or a known system function, then log this issue with the appropriate steam in the HBS / or even broader DHS team for correction with the BA/ Developer involved in the project/change. Impact analysis of said problem is also required.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:

    • Problem analysis and investigation of reported problems using technical tools eg: SQL
    • Clear up ambiguity regarding a problem by using in depth analysis
    • If required, revert to stakeholders if technical issues require business decisions to proceed and answer any queries from the development team.
    • Identify the cause of unexpected system errors and run the Impact analysis
    • Liaise directly with developers and development managers to arrive at solutions

    Client Support Consultant

    Key Purpose

    • The primary function of this role is to deliver the Discovery standard of professional, effective and efficient customer service in a contact centre environment. The role requires that the quality of service exceeds customer expectations and establishes constructive relationships with the client base whilst dealing with complex queries and providing accurate product information in line with standards and protocols.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    • Providing telephonic and email support in the Technical Support Centre
    • Responding to all queries, issues and problems raised internally and externally telephonically and via correspondence.
    • Comprehensively understand and investigate complaints relating to policy, protocol and benefits.
    • Tracking and identifying trends and revert with feedback to appropriate parties.
    • Keeping accurate and comprehensive stats on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

    • The Executive Associate (EA) to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) for Discovery Health is a senior, business critical role that acts as a strategic and operational extension of the CGO.

    Key Purpose

    • Discovery Stores bring the Discovery brand to life by delivering a tangible, differentiated, and memorable experience for clients. The store network is a strategic asset for the business, playing a critical role in revenue generation, brand engagement, and client conversion.
    • This role forms part of the Senior Leadership Team within Discovery Stores and is accountable for driving revenue growth, conversion optimisation, and performance improvement across the national store network.
