    Fitter

    Position Summary

    The Fitters installs and maintains engineering equipment in first class working condition. Ensure efficient safe operation of machinery by repairing and adjusting equipment to within the allowable tolerances. All work carried out on premises must conform to legal and statutory and internal standards if more stringent in all areas of engineering, quality, and safety health & environment. Fault finding and attending to breakdowns. Complete the necessary administrative tasks for AMM, SHE, PMO`s. To be actively involved with new project installations and TPM.

    A day in the life of a Fitter

    • Carry out the planned maintenance required on plant.                 
    • Incumbent has to be pro-active and prevent breakdowns on his/her patrols and shows initiative to continuously improve equipment performance.                
    • Install, service, repair and maintain existing and new equipment.                 
    • Follow up and recommend actions to overcome and improve problems encountered
    • Attend to mechanical faults and breakdowns in all areas of the factory.                 
    • Analyzing, investigating, and eliminating re-current faults.                 
    • Improve on functional maintenance, cleaning and reliability of equipment                 
    • Manage minor projects and contractors in Industrial Services                 
    • Plant knowledge and able to operate all industrial services equipment                
    • Repairs must be carried out quickly (first time right) and efficiently.                 
    • Maintain high standard of work.                 
    • Ensure machine reliability and availability for production targets to be met.                 
    • Undertakes to work shift, standby and overtime as per company requirements.                
    • Lock out & permit procedure to be used at all times when any person could be exposed to danger.
    • Ensure any dangerous conditions must be made safe immediately.                 
    • To correct errors on drawings and update drawings.                
    • Complete the necessary administrative tasks for AMM, SHE, PMO`s.                
    • Actively involved in projects and TPM                 
    • Interact with production people.                 
    • Interact with suppliers.                
    • Interact with contractors.    

    What will make you successful

    • Served Apprenticeship and qualified with a Trade Test Certificate.
    • Matric and N3 qualification essential
    • Minimum of at least 2-3 years’ experience in mechanical field after passing Fitter trade test
    • Manufacturing and Industrial services background
    • Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint SAP and AMM).
    • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
    • In depth knowledge of maintenance practices.
    • Preferably from Estcourt or surrounding areas

    Position Summary

    A day in the life of a Can Technical Operator

    • Operate all can making machinery

    Factory Controller

    This role is to support the Factory Manager as a trusted co-pilot within the Factory Leadership Team (vision, organization, practices, initiatives/projects…) on a day to day as well as on a long-term strategic view. Provide visibility around costs related to the factory processes through the driving of relevant analysis and reporting (monitoring of the budget and controlling the variances), ensure adherence to financial legal requirements and NAS.

    A day in the life of a Factory Finance Controller:

    • Challenge assumptions in seeking cost improvements in factory. Seek for and support cost improvement opportunities, be an active contributor to improvement projects and initiatives validate and review proposed savings
    • Coordinate reporting of actuals (including organizing and overseeing timeliness and accuracy of period-end close, and promoting ownership of data at source); and forecasts for the factory; ensure transparency of this process; follow up and monitoring of progress to close gaps, ensuring Nestle financial policies, Accounting Standards and Costing Standards are followed
    • Participate in business planning; prepare and coordinate the factory budget with factory management; Perform revisions or simulations if needed
    • Develop, control and ensure robust evaluations of capital investment plans and requests
    • Ensure clear control and visibility of assets and liabilities, including the development, implementation and compliance with internal controls
    • Coach and develop the factory finance personnel as individuals and as a team, including career and succession planning.
    • Promote clear understanding of financial key figures and costing within the factory, including organizing training sessions for non-specialists.
    • Ensure full transparency of costs and financial impact to the organization of major or strategic decisions relating to the factory
    • Organize internal and external benchmarking of factory performance and factory product costs
    • Coordinate and be key contact for internal and external audits within the factory

    What will make you successful

    • Formal financial qualification of appropriate level (degree or similar)
    • Prior experience in Accounting / Finance function (e.g.: Costing, accounts payable, ideally within a factory or supply chain
    • Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry experience
    • Experience within a network organization (internal and external providers)
    • Proficiency in English and language of the market (where applicable)

    Maintenance Specialist

    At the Maintenance Specialist you will be responsible for maintain manufacturing and packaging equipment to meet production requirements and performance targets whilst co-ordinating Engineering resources as the Packaging SME.

    A day in the life of...

    Safety Requirements:

    • Ensure compliance to (OHSACT) by ensuring compliance to Work Permits, LOTO & Company requirements.
    • Ensure efficient safe operation of machinery by setting and adjusting devices to within allowed tolerances.

    Maintenance and repairs

    • Lead and co ordinate the execution of planned maintenance for the Factory equipment, including Services and Buildings.

    Maintenance Planning

    • Conduct Loss Tree Analysis, and implement corrective action plans focused on correcting Root Cause.
    • Follow up and drive actions to resolve and improve arising maintenance issues.
    • Identify and address Root cause of re occuring faults with sound and sensible solutions            

    Compliance

    • Responsible for the time management of subordinates using the Kronos system. 
    • Responsible to escalate time management issues from subordinates to HR and Factory Engineer.
    • Set and maintain high quality of workmanship. 
    • Undertakes to work shift, standby and overtime as per company requirements.

    What will make you successful

    • At least N6 Certificate.
    • Served an Apprenticeship and qualified with a Trade Test Certificate.

    Chemistry Analyst

    Position Summary

    The chemistry analyst independently carries out chemical analysis for fat, moisture,effluent, viscosity and water according to Nestlé-internal and official procedures based on titrimetric, potentiometric or gravimetric testing.The analyst is responsible for preparation of the sample, analysis, entering results into SAP and reporting of results within five days according to work planning. He/She maintains the chemical inventory and laboratory equipment according to strict rules (internal control plan) and tracks the performance of the analytical methods in use through method performance monitoring applications (QSTAT) and regular proficiency testing (P-tests). Method procedures (LIs/SOPs) are verified on a regular basis by the analyst.

    In this position the jobholder is overall accountable for On Time Release and availability of samples with all required documents. May include reasonable requests to perform tasks outside this scope

    A day in the life of a Chemistry Analyst

    Leadership

    • Knows by product group the principles of analytical methods applied for all parameters monitored by the factory laboratory 
    • Ensures reliable results as per NQMS/ Nestle Internal requirements and within five days turnaround time.
    • Adds value to the analytical results through full understanding of the product in terms of food safety and regulatory compliance.
    • Alerts Compliance Specialist (Co-ordinator) of discrepancies/ out of norm situations

    Technical 

    • Analysis of samples: perform all fat, moisture (both rapid & oven), particle size, viscosity, effluent, sucrose, reducing sugars, viscosity, raw material analysis and proximate analysis as per Laboratory instructions and ensure correct result entry into SAP with respect to method used.
    • Management of GLP, ICP,SOP : put ICP, SOP in place and update them when necessary. Maintain Good laboratory practices (GLP). Ensure safeties are in place at all times. Use control checks and monitor analytical method performance through QStat to ensure quality of analytical results. 
    • Proficiency Testing: Participate in Nestlé “P” tests and other proficiency schemes.
    • Maintenance of resources: keep track of resources (chemicals/ gases/ glassware/ instruments, consumables). Maintain equipment (services) and arrange for defects/faulty equipment to be repaired. Maintain records of repairs/calibrations/analytical method control.    

    What will make you successful

    • 1-3 years experience in a lab environment
    • Diploma/Degree in Chemistry or any science related qualification
    • Knowledge of good manufacturing system
    • Compliance and regulatory experience
    • 1-3 years experience in a lab environment
    • FMCG/Pharmaceutical background essential
