    Portfolio Manager

    Description

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • The candidate will be responsible for managing the global and local multi asset investment portfolios of an existing book of high-net-worth clients. This requires in depth technical knowledge of onshore and offshore financial markets and products. The candidate will be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and potential clients. The individual is required to contribute towards new business development, as well as identify opportunities and make referrals to other service lines across the Stonehage Fleming Group.

    • The role reports to the Head of Investment Management in SA

    WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

    • This role requires a strong working relationship with the Investment Management team in Johannesburg, Cape Town and London. The role also requires strong relationships with Stonehage Fleming employees at all levels, across geographies. Externally the role requires regular interaction and close relationships with existing and potential clients, as well as business introducers.

    Administrator - Corporate Governance and Secretarial Services

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • The primary purpose of this role is to to provide a hands-on professional service to corporate clients. The role will include supporting or managing client relationships on a day-to-day basis, project management support for client transactions, coaching more junior members of the team and ensuring that all client deliverables are met in a timely manner.
    • The clients’ portfolio spans over most asset classes with our core focus on family office / UHNW / entrepreneurial clients primarily investing in real estate, capital markets and private equity (regulated and unregulated structures).

    Key Responsibilities    
    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Administration responsibilities

    • Provide support in the management and co-ordination of all Client related matters (e.g.: corporate transactions such as incorporations, liquidations, capital increase etc.).
    • Liaise with clients, intermediaries, and advisors, taking responsibility for being the immediate point of contact for allocated client relationships.
    • Organise and prepare standard shareholder resolutions.
    • Co-ordinate client board meetings and prepare board meeting materials.
    • Open and maintain bank accounts.
    • Assist with the client onboarding process, managing the workflow and associated requirements.
    • Ensure the maintenance of all statutory and administrative records.
    • Maintain the corporate calendar for allocated structures and ensuring calendar events/requirements are dealt with on a timely basis.
    • Arrange payment of fees and expenses in line with contracts and prepare payments instructions (including KYT).
    • Responsible for the timely collection of fees and pro-active debtor management across allocated client portfolio (included reviewing client invoices).
    • Work alongside the AML/KY C team on periodic due diligence.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Have a minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in the administration of companies.
    • Hold relevant experience in administration of Private Equity, Real Estate and Debt (regulated and unregulated structures).
    • Recognised diploma or other relevant financial services qualification preferred.
    • Educated to a minimum of degree level in Law, Financial Services or Accountancy.

    Consolidation Financial Accountant (SA)

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • Reporting to the Group Head of Financial Reporting, the Consolidation Financial Accountant will assist with the timely and accurate production of monthly consolidated financial statements.

    Key Responsibilities    
    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Maintain the consolidation model on a monthly basis
    • Ensure adequate controls and processes are in place to confirm that consolidation eliminations are complete and accurate
    • Investigate any reconciliation items and liaise with the financial accountants to get them corrected
    • Assist with the preparation of the Group financial statements, in compliance with IFRS, at year end including all the relevant note production
    • Assist with the preparation of finance management packs for the shareholder reporting

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Qualified accountant with several years PQE
    • Detailed knowledge of large consolidation processes (50+ entities)
    • Strong technical background with experience of financial reporting under IFRS, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements
    • Previous Financial Services experience preferable
    • Previous experience implementing new accounting standards preferable

    Family Office Advisor - Johannesburg

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • The role forms part of the Family Office department where you will advise UHNW wealth creators and their families, in the management of their financial affairs. You will work alongside the senior advisory team with the goal to later take over and manage clients of your own.     IT Infrastructure - Network Security Engineer

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • We are seeking to appoint an Associate – Network Security Engineer in our IT Infrastructure department based in either Cape Town or Johannesburg. This is a technical hands-on job, which requires solid technical knowledge of firewalls and network infrastructure.

    IT Infrastructure - System Administrator

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    The overall purpose of this position is to:

    • Follow and recommend best practices to safeguard the integrity and security of all our IT Systems
    • Maintain Operating Systems, Business Applications and Technical Components up to date

    Junior Client Accountant

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    The overall purpose of this position is to join the Accounting and SA Tax Compliance team, ensuring delivery to Stonehage Fleming’s clients of the following:

    SKILLS

    Senior Group Accountant

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager the Senior Group Accountant will be responsible for the complete month end close process of several international entities across the Group. Including the preparation of financial records under IFRS, financial statements, preparing and submitting relevant tax filings and providing financial information to stakeholders across the Group, enabling them to make budgeting and investments decisions

    Key Responsibilities    
    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Complete bank reconciliations for the bank accounts of specific Group entities on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure that the cash records are correct
    • Liaise with the billing team to ensure that they have completed the billing, WIP accruals, bad debt provisions and income split journals for assigned Group entities each month
    • Liaise with the accounts payable team to ensure that accruals and prepayments are booked correctly each month
    • Preparing the monthly profit and loss, and balance sheet reports
    • Completion of IFRS 16 lease accounting journals for relevant entities
    • Check that the AP team has posted expenses to the correct department versus budget
    • Understand and adhere to all financial and accounting regulations and legislation
    • Complete VAT and Tax returns, for the appropriate countries' tax authority within the required deadlines
    • Assist with the completion of regulatory returns during busy periods and provide data to the regulatory reporting team for monthly regulatory cap updates
    • Input into the calculation of local and Group service level agreements
    • Preparation of weekly/monthly cash flow forecasts
    • Assist with the preparation of year-end statutory financial statements
    • Liaison with auditors
    • Respond to adhoc financial queries by gathering and interpreting data
    • Prepare board report packs including financial analysis and commentary

    Tax Advisor

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • Advising and consulting with clients on SA and international tax engagements, both personal and corporate tax.

    WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

    • The position reports to and works directly with the Partner Tax Advisory within the Family Office. Other working relationships include all members of the extended Family Office Team.     • High net worth and international tax experience  would assist the candidate
    • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant working experience within a consulting tax environment.
    • Good communication skills, both oral and in writing
    • Ability to manage multiple assignments
    • Strong tax technical skills
    • Strong ability to interpret financial information, company and trust structures and transactions, accounting knowledge preferred
    • Research and report writing
