    Section Head: Bricklaying

    KEY ACTIVITIES

    • Providing technical leadership and professional oversight in bricklaying, plastering, blockwork, paving, and related masonry trades.
    • Ensuring that all work complies with SANS building standards, OHS regulations, and organizational policies.
    • Managing the performance, training, discipline, and development of artisans and learners within the bricklaying section.
    • Planning, allocating, and monitoring masonry work to support construction, maintenance, and infrastructure development.
    • Ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of materials, tools, and labour resources.
    • Overseeing workshop operations and ensuring that training or practical sessions are conducted safely and effectively (for institutions offering skills training).

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • N3 to N6 or Matric certificate or equivalent
    • Must have a valid Bricklaying and Plastering Certificate, or a Diploma at NQF 4-6 qualification in bricklaying and plastering, or a related technical field related to bricklaying
    • Five (5) years’ post qualification experience with bricklaying and plastering, maintenance
    • and construction, of which two (2) years must be in a supervisory capacity.
    • A trade test certificate in bricklaying and plastering are a requirement
    • Supervisory or management qualifications are an additional advantage
    • A solid track record working as a bricklayer and a plasterer

    Expenditure Officer

    KEY ACTIVITIES

    • Verify the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all payment requests, invoices, and supporting documentation.
    • Process purchase orders, payment vouchers, and supplier invoices on the financial system.
    • Ensure all payments comply with procurement policies, delegation of authority, andrelevant SCM policies.
    • Prepare payment batches for approval and release

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Matric certificate or equivalent
    • National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or a Project Management or any related field.
    • 2–3 years’ experience in financial administration or expenditure processing.
    • Experience with financial systems (e.g., Oracle or ITS).
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation and financial regulations
    • Knowledge of guiding the department on expenditure-related queries, compliance, and required documentation.
    • Knowledge of assisting the implemention and improving internal controls within the expenditure unit.

    Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer X2

    KEY ACTIVITIES

    • Implement and enforce compliance with the OHS Act and associated regulations.
    • Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing safety policies, SOPs, and emergency procedures.
    • Prepare incident investigation reports and recommend corrective actions.
    • Conduct OHS awareness sessions, inductions, and safety training for employees, students, and contractors.
    • Conduct inspections of emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, alarms, first aid kits, and emergency exits
    • Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual OHS reports for management and statutory bodies.
    • Work with Facilities Management, HR, Security, Projects, Unions, and external service providers to ensure safety compliance.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12 Matric Certificate is essential
    • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health,
    • OCHS, or related field.
    • SAMTRAC / NEBOSH / Equivalent recognised OHS certificates at NQF Level 6 and higher.
    • Registration with a professional body (e.g., SACPCMP as CHSO) is highly recommended.
    • 2–3 years’ experience in workplace OHS management.
    • Knowledge of the OHS Act, COIDA, SANS Codes, Fire Regulations, and safety management systems.
    • Record, report and investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses within 24–48 hours.
    • Submit comprehensive investigation reports (ICAM or equivalent method) within 5 working days.
    • Track corrective actions and ensure at least 80% implementation rate.
    • Maintain an updated incident and accident register with complete documentation.
    • Reduce repeat incidents in the same area by at least 20% annually
    • Conduct OHS inductions for new employees, students, and contractors as required.
    • Facilitate or coordinate at least 4 major OHS awareness sessions per year (e.g., fire safety, ergonomics, emergency preparedness).
    • Ensure safety representatives receive necessary training and tools to fulfil their roles.
    • Maintain accurate training records and attendance registers.

    Manager: Waste Management

    KEY ACTIVITIES

    • Managing and supervising staff, managing budgets and supplies, ensuring quality and safety standards, and performing both hands-on and administrative tasks related to site maintenance and hygiene.
    • Staff supervision, equipment management, and enforcing health and safety regulations for both cleaning and gardening operations.
    • Coordinate daily cleaning and gardening schedules and tasks to ensure all areas are properly maintained.
    • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene standards relevant to both
    • cleaning and gardening work.
    • Oversee the budget for cleaning and gardening services, which may include managing expenses for supplies and equipment.
    • Develop and implement an Integrated Waste Management Plan (IWMP).
    • Ensure full compliance with the National Environmental Management: Waste Act,
    • NEMA, and all applicable regulations.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12 is essential
    • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management, Waste Management,
    • Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field.
    • A postgraduate qualification (Honours/Master’s) will be an added advantage.
    • Professional certification (e.g., IWMSA, ISO 14001, SAMTRAC, waste classification training at NQF Level 6 or higher) is desirable.
    • Experience in cleaning operations and a strong understanding of hygiene standards.
    • Knowledge of gardening techniques and landscape maintenance.

    Plumbers x4

    KEY ACTIVITIES

    • Install water supply systems (cold and hot-water reticulation).
    • Install drainage and sewage systems.
    • Install sanitary fixtures: toilets, basins, urinals, taps, baths, showers.
    • Install geysers (electric/solar) in compliance with SANS 10254.
    • Install valves, pumps, pressure regulators, and fittings.
    • Install rainwater and greywater systems where applicable
    • Diagnose and repair leaks in pipes, taps, toilets, geysers, and fixtures.
    • Repair or replace burst pipes, blocked drains, and faulty valves.
    • Maintain pressure systems and ensure proper water flow.
    • Conduct preventative maintenance to avoid system failures.
    • Perform routine checks on plumbing infrastructure across buildings.
    • Ensure all work complies with SANS plumbing standards and regulations.
    • Comply with the OHS Act and safe working procedures.
    • Ensure geyser and drainage installations meet legal compliance standards.
    • Safely use ladders, power tools, cutting equipment, and access equipment.
    • Complete job cards, risk assessments, and safe work procedures

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12 (Matric).
    • Plumbing Trade Test Certificate and an artisanal certificate
    • N2–N3 in Plumbing or Building Science.
    • Accredited short courses are beneficial:
    • Solar water heating
    • Heat pump installation
    • Drain laying
    • Pipefitting
    • Safety certificates (OHS)

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • 2–5 years working experience post-qualification.
    • Experience in:
    • Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
    • Domestic, commercial, or industrial plumbing
    • Fault finding and troubleshooting
    • Working from technical drawings
    • Use of power tools and plumbing equipment
    • Experience with building maintenance environments is an advantage (especially for universities, public institutions, municipalities)
