    Junior Data Analyst

    About the job
    An opportunity exists in Mazars Gauteng for a Junior Data Analyst.
    Your purpose will be to assist the organization with monitoring of audit quality by collecting, summarizing data, synthesizing data, and compiling reports. Communicate with multiple stakeholders and diverse audiences to recommend corrective behaviour. Continuously seek to improve on knowledge and skills related to monitoring activities. To support an area of the business in a specialised role, working under guidance.
    Responsibilities

    • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
    • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
    • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
    • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
    • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
    • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
    • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

    Qualifications

    • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages databases (SQL etc)
    • Strong SQL scripting and database management
    • Strong Excel skills (VBA Excel is advantageous)
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
    • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
    • Post matric qualifications (Quantitative or IT subjects are advantageous)
    • 2 + years working experience in the field
    • Background or strong interest in related technology solutions
    • Excellent verbal/written communications and interpersonal skills
    • Strong ability in self-motivated and high responsibility for daily work. Proven ability to work in a team environment and multi-task to produce quality client deliverables
    • Have strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills;
    • Excellent MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required; Access preferred)

    Junior IT Audit Consultant

    About the job
    Mazars in Cape Town has an exciting role available for a Junior IT Audit Consultant.
    The purpose will be to perform IT audits.

    • As a Junior IT Audit Consultant you will be expected to link business to underpinning IT systems. Be at the cutting edge of new information technology trends and emerging risks that may impact clients in order to prepare the necessary contingency plan. The position is client facing, which requires interpersonal skills, an analytical mindset to assist clients in identifying and managing risks related to IT processes and controls. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Compile a permanent file (standing information about the client) for clients
    • Preliminary reviews of systems and business processes
    • Documentation and flowcharting of business processes and systems
    • Identify risks as input into business risk identification process
    • Conduct Information Technology General Controls Reviews (ITGCRs)
    • Prepare audit files with standard information (work papers and reports)
    • Execute audit programs and record work done
    • Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations to address root cause of audit findings
    • Manage individual productivity (include completion of timesheets)

    Requirements:

    • BCom degree with auditing majors
    • Completed or currently studying towards CISA qualification
    • 0 - 3 years’ experience in an IT audit / financial auditing environment beneficial
    • Able to work and cope under pressures
    • Initiative / pro-active
    • Adherence to principles and values
    • Information gathering and problem analysis skills
    • Quality and detail orientation
    • Able to demonstrate and exercise sound judgment skills
    • Eager to learn and accept new challenges
    • Must have strong teamwork skills
    • Results driven, able to achieve work goals and meet deadlines
