    Manager - National Roaming Compliance Wholesale and Carrier Services

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    Manages, implements and maintains multiple multi-year contractual agreements with a focus on governance and compliance across Wholesale, and on enabling client’s business. This role is responsible to:

    • Provide input regarding drafting, structuring and efficiency of contractual arrangements
    • Implement and maintain contractual agreements
    • Monitor execution of contractual agreements and milestone, ensuring contract terms are adhered to consistently
    • Ensure correct documentation and system integration of contractual agreements
    • Fulfil an independent audit and assessment function to ensure adherence to commercial commitments, in particular national roaming agreements ensuing commercial and regulatory compliance

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Key Activities & Responsibilities

    Strategic implementation

    • Maintain an understanding of the overall strategy of the Wholesale strategy within MTN and execute day-today activities in alignment with strategic objectives
    • Provide thought leadership by regularly monitoring industry trends and developments including market landscape, new regulations and technology trends
    • Maintain a full understanding of relevant products and services in order to identify strategic opportunities for revenue and market growth

    Contract Management

    • Review and develop in depth understanding of contractual agreements and contract milestones within Wholesale. Provide feedback and updates where necessary
    • Manage all aspects of the national roaming contract - with specific, but not limited, focus on the contractual and regulatory obligations from both parties to ensure there is no breach and no missed contractual obligations and commitments
    • Provide input regarding drafting, structuring and efficiency of contractual arrangements
    • Stay up-to-date with Consumer Price Index (CPI) and relevant increases an/or interest rate changes. Ensure alignment within contractual agreements
    • Monitor and ensure compliance regarding execution and implementation of contractual agreements. Where updates are made, ensure these are implemented
    • Establishes appropriate relationships with internal stakeholders in the various business units in order to ensure execution of agreements according to governance and compliance standards
    • Attend working group sessions and client/ contractor meetings
    • Monitor the performance of strategic partnerships by maintaining client profiles and measuring performance against key metrics.
    • Consolidate contract performance status reports, send to leadership for review
    • Ensure correct documentation and system integration of contractual agreements

    Budget Management

    • Provide input into assigned budget, ensuring all expenditure is in line with MTN SA’s strategic intent and agreed budgets
    • Contribute towards budget management within the function by identifying inefficient areas and seek ways to reduce expenditure in order to deliver on set revenue targets     
    • Ensure Vendor & IT costs are effectively managed

    Continuous Improvement

    • Keep abreast of international best practice, technologies and industry trends.
    • Proactively research relevant best practice and processes, recommending translation of these in the strategic framework of the unit.
    • Maintain an understanding of related systems in order to develop integrated systems and processes.
    • Understand and take cognisance of emerging markets and plan accordingly
    • Continuous development and improvement of standard documentation and processes – i.e. looking at efficiencies and streamlining.

    People & Culture Management

    • Provide technical, procedural and policy guidance to staff, colleagues , partners and vendors
    • Create and implement personal development plan
    • Identify own performance and identify training needs
    • Enable and model healthy employee relations and collaborative teamwork

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education: 

    • Minimum of 3 years - Commercial/ Financial /Audit Business Degree
    • Commercial / technical and/or further legal qualification will be an advantage

    Experience: 

    • 5 – 8 Years Telecommunications experience in a financial and or audit role
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
    • Knowledge in: MTN systems,  Compliance issues specific to the telecoms industry, products and services, contract management

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job: 

    • To determine insights from large quantities of structured and unstructured data to shape or meet specific business needs and goals. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Key Performance Areas: 

    Assist Tactical Implementation

    • Assist with driving best practice, iterative improvement and innovation
    •  Work with team leads to provide recommendations to various business units and influences future plans based on insights

    Data Modelling

    • Research and develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
    • Work as part of multiple analytic project teams by serving as a specialist for project teams; working with various business units to translate project goals into data analytic model
    • Build predictive and data mining models with high dimensional and dynamic data and conduct analysis through the project life cycle

    Data Analysis 

    • Utilise Big Data analytics and advanced data mining techniques to analyse data specific to AI Proposition - Personalisation 
    • Code, test and maintain analytical software tools to analyse AI Proposition - Personalisation data
    • Identify trends, patterns and discrepancies in data and determines additional data needed to support insight specific to AI Proposition - Personalisation
    • Perform analytical tasks such as text mining and sentiment analysis from mined AI Proposition - Personalisation analysis
    • Analyse data from company databases to drive optimisation and improvement of MTN SA’s data quality and compliance 
    • Provide on-going tracking and monitoring of performance of decision systems and statistical models
    • Analyse data to develop data-driven insights, applying analytical results to division goals, identifying trends across MTN SA and translating results into actionable recommendations

    Continuous Improvement

    • Develop usage and access control policies and systems in collaboration with the SM: Data Governance (Stewardship)
    • Partner with the other data scientists in continuous improvement processes impacting data quality in the context of the specific use case
    • Recommend ongoing improvements to methods and algorithms that lead to findings, including new information

    Collaboration / Coordination 

    • Collaborate with various stakeholders throughout the organisation to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
    • Collaborate with other functions across the business to ensure effectiveness of analysis conducted
    • Collaborate with other functions to drive and where applicable enhance the utilisation of models, algorithms and software that help solve business problems

    Reporting

    • Review and submit reports addressing periodic activity, budget compliance, feedback and key departmental results to facilitate decision making
    • Prepare reports on operational performance and detailed reports on specific projects when required
    • Communicate to business units the various predictions and findings through effective data visualizations and reports

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

    Education: (5)

    • Minimum of 3-year tertiary degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Advanced Analytics, mathematics, geophysics, or related quantitative fields
    • Fluent in English 

    Experience: (5)

    • Minimum of 1 - 2 years’ experience in a data science environment 
    • Experience working in a medium to large organisation 
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantages

    Training:

    • Data science and advanced analytics
    • Programming skills (SAS, Python, SQL, C++, etc)
    • Computer software training
    • Robotic process automation solutions (UiPath, Blue Prism, NICE etc.)
    • Data Visualisation (tools such as Power BI, Tableau etc.)
    • Data Science Workbenches (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc)
    • ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo, Public GIT and Kaggle profiles a major plus
