    Agricultural Economist - Klerksdorp

    Farming enterprise input, cost budgets and sensitivity analyses, and norms & valuation guidelines

    • Review and provide input, assisting when needed with the compilation of new enterprise budgets during technical and financial sessions to ensure that the budgets used for credit applications are accurate.
    • Assist with training internal users on the use of enterprise budgets.
    • Benchmark budgets on an annual basis.
    • Assist with compiling, maintaining, and regularly reviewing (benchmarking) applicable norms and guidelines related to measuring farm financial performance, mechanization and contractor costs, rental values for different types of farmlands, and RMVs for soft commodities, livestock, game, and vegetables for internal use.
    • Assist with compiling, maintaining, and regularly reviewing productive values (PVs) of
    • farmland (rainfed, irrigation, perennial, natural, and planted pastures) within the Senwes geographical service area.

    Agricultural Economic Related Services

    • Conduct Agricultural Economic Feasibility (AEF) studies for clients, both internal and external.
    • Add value through data analysis and provide recommendations to clients.
    • Plan mechanisation for both internal and external clients.
    • Communicate business intelligence effectively and timeously to relevant parties, where and when applicable.
    • Assist with risk mitigation for high-risk clients by supporting the development and
    • implementation of turnaround or exit strategies.
    • Transfer information by communicating relevant business and market insights to clients.
    • Attend to ad hoc subject-specific enquiries.

    E-Bureau

    • Recruit E-Bureau participants as needed to ensure the data is representative of the Senwes Area of Interest.
    • Compile and interpret E-Bureau reports.
    • Assist with the continuous improvement of the current E-Bureau model to shorten turnaround times, ensure clients receive their information and feedback promptly, and minimise errors.
    • Ensure value is added through data analysis and recommendations to clients.
    • Establish and maintain lasting business relationships with internal and external clients.
    • Benchmark information to support decision-making.
    • Liaise between E-Bureau clients and other business units of Senwes, where and when applicable.
    • Communicate business intelligence effectively and timeously to relevant parties, where and when applicable.
    • Get involved in high-value transactions to enable the successful delivery of value-adding business solutions to clients. 

    Marketing and Liaison

    • Establish and maintain lasting business relationships with internal and external clients.
    • Liaise with AE forums, preferred input suppliers, and commodity off-takers.
    • Market finance solutions and service offerings to the target market.
    • Corporate image: Build client and stakeholder networks.

    Requirements

    • Experience: At least 3 -5 years relevant experience.
    • Qualification: B.Sc. Agric or B.Com. with Agricultural Economics as a major subject. Completion of an Honours degree in Agricultural Economics is highly recommended.

    Admin Clerk: Workshop

    Reports

    • Daily reports: incoming, completed, awaiting approval, awaiting customer go‑ahead, awaiting spare parts, awaiting routes, inspected, awaiting inspection
    • Weekly reports: spare part back orders, outstanding external jobs
    • Monthly reports: total incoming work, internal completed, internal credits, work status, internal work summary, external credits, external work summary
    • Compiling of technical reports to customers as per findings and pictures received from technicians
    • Spare part back‑order status must be reported to buyers daily
    • Back‑order ETAs must be communicated to customers daily
    • Written communication must be sent to customers regarding any open work orders daily

     Customer feedback

    • Provide daily feedback to all customers on job status and back‑order status for both internal and external job cards.
    • Record complete notes of all correspondence in the Embrace system (yellow book).
    • Submit back‑order ETA status requests to buyers on a weekly basis.
    • Communicate any changes in back‑order ETAs to customers promptly.

    Spares quotes, ordering and invoicing

    •  Source and provide quotes for spare parts not kept in stock at the Agrinet Warehouse, negotiating cost and delivery times with customers.
    • Once customer approval or warranty confirmation is received, pick, check, and distribute spare parts to technicians.
    • For buyout spares, create a purchase order, arrange collection or delivery, receive the spares, and process the invoice (GRV).
    • Post labour entries on the Embrace system per technician

     Communication

    • Communicate all changes in work status, pricing, or spare parts availability to relevant parties via email, and record updates in the Embrace system (yellow book).
    • Maintain proper notes of all communication with customers, suppliers, and Agrinet staff.
    • Handle day‑to‑day telephone calls and respond to emails promptly.

    General office admin

    • Handle all general workshop administration required for the day‑to‑day functioning of the workshop, including but not limited to managing stationery and reporting faulty office equipment.
    • Act as a general assistant to the Workshop Manager, providing support with all workshop‑related administrative tasks as required.

    Requirements

    • Microsoft office (Excel & Word)
    • Minimum one year experience in a similar role.

    Description
    PRODUCTION:

    Planning:

    •  Establish priorities.
    • Schedule and assign work to the most suitable staff to complete the job as quickly as possible.
    • This must be done in an efficient, safe and motivated environment.
    • Plan your own time and time of others. Planning must always meet all customer expectations.

    Organising:

    •  Ensuring all raw materials, consumables and safety equipment are readily available,prepared and ready for production.

    Controlling output / results:

    • Measuring output of each person's productivity and managing exception in the form off corrective action.
    • Always enforcing the quality standard of the organisation.
    • Utilisation of all resources (staff and equipment) to the maximum always.
    • Listening to and resolve staff issues to minimise any down time.

    Inventory control:

    • Utilise raw material efficiently and reducing off cuts and scrap.
    • Conducting 2 stock takes with minimum variances.
    • Order raw materials JIT and not to carry unnecessary stocks.
    • Ensure stock levels are always within the minimum and maximum quantity levels and not to be in an out-of-stock situation.

    HEALTH AND SAFETY:

    • Monitor and ensure work environment is safe for staff at all times.
    • Attend safety meeting regularly.
    • Fill out all relevant safety / check lists document timeously.
    • Ensure that all staff are using their proper safety equipment at all times.
    • Ensure your area meets all organisational rules in terms of legal obligation.

    PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

    Leading staff:

    • Creating an environment where staff are motivated and performing at their best at all times.
    • Maintaining staff by using identified training opportunities.

    Disciplinary:

    • Take corrective / disciplinary action against staff who do not follow the rules of the organisation.
    • Ensure we are working to our prescribed ISO standards at all times.
    • Ensure all work instruction and work procedures are being adhered to.
    • Ensure all risk assessment are done, up to date and all new staff are inducted accordingly.

    Continuous improvement:

    • Continually revisit and study production processes in your area and come up with new and improved ways of doing things using new technology and implementing the cost reduction processes.
    • Document this improvement and saving for your area.

    MAINTENANCE AND HOUSEHOLD:

    • Ensure all equipment is maintained timeously and evaluated on ongoing basis for replacement.
    • Always ensure a preventative maintenance plan is place for all you’re the equipment in your area in line with the maintenance department.
    • Ensure spare parts for machines in your area are kept in stock for wearing parts and longer lead time breakdown items again in line with the maintenance department.
    • Ensure all work stations, surrounding areas and area of responsibility is kept neat and tidy at all times.

    ADMINISTRATION:

    • Ensure all relevant paperwork is done accurately, captured timeously or handed in accordingly.
    • Generating of internal and purchase order requisition timeously.
    • Capturing of all training done in your area consistently.

    Requirements

    • National Senior Certificate and past trade test (Turner)
    • At least 5 years’ experience working in a production environment and additional 3 years working as a supervisor or in a leadership position.
