Objectives

Main Functions of the Job

• Implement the designed network in new builds/ fitouts
• Configuration of switches as per the approved standard
• Ensure network security by implementing best practices
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize for maximum efficiency and uptime
• Collaborate with other IT team members to implement new technologies and integrate systems
• Work with stakeholders across the organization to identify and meet their network needs
• Create and maintain network documentation and diagrams
• Provide support to end-users for network issues
• Support the existing CT2 Network and Server Engineer in respect of desktop support functions, for CT1 and CT2 regional offices
• Once a month to once every 6 weeks standby afterhours shift
• Comply to all information security policies and procedures and take initiative to provide input to improve Information Security, based on the ISO 27002 guidelines and NIST Information Security best practices.
• Manage risks associated with access to the information assets/systems.

Requirements
Skills Requirements

• Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, ACSA (ACCA preferred)
• Aruba Clearpass Experience (preferred)
• Desktop support experience (preferred)
• At least 5 years of experience in network and server engineering or a related field
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs
• Familiarity with network and server monitoring and management tools, such as LibreNMS, Opmanager and Airwave
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

Purpose of the Role

• This role requires a strong technical background in both desktop and server environments, as well as experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving.

• Administer and support Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems (Windows 10 and 11, Server 2019 and 2020), Active Directory, DNS, Group Policies and SCCM
• Manage and maintain virtual environments based on VMWare
• Manage and maintain backup and disaster recovery systems.
• Provide support for desktop software and hardware, including operating systems, productivity applications, and peripherals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve desktop and server hardware and software issues.
• Conduct regular maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and system optimizations.
• Provide end-user support for desktop and server-related issues.
• Ensure that assets are updated on the asset list
• Comply to all Teraco’s policies, procedures and work instructions
• Comply to all information security policies and procedures and take initiative to provide input to improve Information Security, based on the ISO 27002 guidelines and NIST Information Security best practices.

• Relevant certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, MCIPT

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• The Operations Security Administrators are also responsible for configuration and commissioning all new CCTV and access control deployments, in new builds and existing facilities.
• This position is an office based position and not remote working, except after hours for standby support.

OBJECTIVES

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Implement Security System configurations, as per Teraco standard.
• Provide effective problem diagnostics (troubleshooting), technical support, problem resolution. Support the on-site Site Security Managers to achieve quickest resolution time on all problems related to the Operational Security systems and devices. Support all sites, which may require traveling between sites by car or air. This must be done remotely and onsite.
• Skills transfer or training of colleagues/ service providers, including Bidvest Control Room staff.
• Where necessary, liaise directly with vendors to resolve hardware issues and escalate as appropriate.
• Liaising with vendors for replacement stock or spares for maintenance.
• Quality assurance (as per check sheets) and handover testing of new installations.
• Third party service provider job card review and approval.
• Project manage installation as assigned.
• Escalate calls that require the attention of the IT team by utilising the correct escalations channels.
• Document security administration procedures, implement the procedures as agreed and ensure evidence in respect of procedures is retained as per documented.
• Conduct daily checks of all security systems: Axis, Morpho, Gallagher, Cathexis, Dell Storage & EVIM.
• LAN administration, including switch management.
• Mapping of new camera’s according to security risk reviews.
• Adherence to standard operating procedures and to operational security governance and policies, including incident and change control procedures.
• Comply with Client specific security design and procedures.
• Assist with the design of the security solution for new or transitioned Teraco facilities.
• Implementation and monitoring of alerts on the Cathexis and Gallagher alert management systems.
• Ad-hoc duties (may be required to work afterhours or weekends)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Matric
• Gallagher Security Professional certification preferred. If not, then essential that funded by and obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Minimum 4 years’ working experience on Security Solutions or switching preferred.
• IT Diploma/Certificate or equivalent NQF Level 6
• CCNA & CCNP Security (advantageous)
• SQL Server Management
• A+ (advantageous)
• N+ (advantageous)
• Experience in Vendor Management and related SLA’s
• Experience in administering and enforcing information security security best practices across multiple sites.
• Experience with the deployment of large-scale technology security solutions preferred.
• Previous experience in supporting a VMS system or IP camera network.
• Knowledge of Telecommunication and Data Centre environment
